Your Team
The Surveillance team plays a critical role in ensuring Australia’s equity markets remain fair, orderly and transparent. The team performs real-time analysis of market movements, swiftly responding to concerning conduct in close collaboration with ASX Listings Compliance, ASX Enforcement and ASIC.
Your responsibilities
- Promptly identify, analyse and recommend action in response to market misconduct or uninformed markets
- Accurately analyse generated alerts accurately within set timeframes, maintaining a record of decisions
- ASX’s point of contact with the ASIC Market Surveillance team
- Ensure constant print and electronic media surveillance to detect potential leaks of information
- Engage in ad-hoc analysis to inform ASX Compliance’s decisions
- Preparation of a daily report for internal distribution
- Identify and refer possible cases of insider trading or market manipulation to ASIC
- Foster your own curiosity by undertaking self-directed further analysis
Your experience and qualifications
Must have
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics or Commerce.
- Previous experience in an analytical or surveillance role, preferably in a market-facing or equity research capacity.
- An understanding of the continuous disclosure obligations of listed entities
- A general understanding of the operations of Australia’s financial markets
- A general knowledge of the insider trading and market misconduct provisions of the Corporations Act
- An interest and passion for equity markets
Nice to have
- Some prior exposure to equities or derivatives trading
- Detailed knowledge or interest in a particular sector or subset of Australian listed entities
- Practical knowledge of market surveillance methodologies for equities
- Previous exposure to ASX Listing Rules, ASX Operating Rules or ASIC/ASX Market Integrity Rules
