KBR’s Defence, Buildings & Maritime team is expanding — and we’re looking for an experienced, strategic, and commercially minded Market Sector Manager (MSM), Maritime to drive the growth of our national ports and maritime portfolio.

This senior leadership role will see you shaping market strategy, winning major work, strengthening client partnerships, and steering a diverse project portfolio across Australia’s rapidly evolving coastal and maritime sectors.

The Opportunity

As the Market Sector Manager – Maritime, you will:

  • Drive Strategy & Market Growth

  • Develop and implement a 3‑year sector strategy across ports, coastal and maritime infrastructure.

  • Expand KBR’s presence nationally, engaging across government, defence, and private industry.

Lead Work Winning & Client Engagement

  • Identify, shape, and secure new business opportunities aligned to strategic goals.

  • Lead or support major bids, working closely with internal leaders and industry partners.

  • Build strong relationships with key decision‑makers across the maritime ecosystem.

Oversee Portfolio Performance

  • Provide governance and leadership across a portfolio of up to 20 projects.

  • Ensure projects meet financial, delivery, safety and client expectations.

  • Drive commercial outcomes, manage contractual risks, and implement corrective actions where required.

Grow Capability & Culture

  • Lead, mentor and influence industry leads, project directors and other delivery leaders.

  • Drive recruitment, retention and development of key maritime talent.

  • Champion KBR’s values and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance culture.

About You

You’re a strategic thinker and respected industry leader with the ability to operate at Level of Work III. You blend commercial acumen with technical insight and are equally comfortable engaging with senior executives, industry partners and project delivery teams.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong experience in the maritime, ports, coastal infrastructure or defence maritime sector.

  • Demonstrated success in market growth, work winning and client relationship development.

  • Proven capability in portfolio governance, financial performance and commercial leadership.

  • Ability to lead through others — influencing, coaching and building high‑performing teams.

  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills, backed by operational judgement.

Key Measures of Success

  • Growth in market share, revenue and secured backlog.

  • Strong portfolio financial performance (job income, overhead recovery, BU income).

  • Successful strategy implementation and talent attraction/retention.

  • High client satisfaction and strengthened industry reputation.

  • Demonstrated leadership in safety and KBR values.
