Seize the opportunity to join the Product Control team which is responsible for independent Profit & Loss and Risk validation and reporting, US external reporting, balance sheet and capital management along with ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial statements.
As an Associate in the Markets Product Controller team, you will be responsible for providing support to financial controllers and APAC Rates trading desks to ensure P&L, balance sheet and month end close procedures are done correctly and accurately. The role will put you at the forefront of changing requirements, business initiatives and an ever-changing market environment. Job responsibilities
- Produce, analyze, and oversee daily P&L and Risk for the APAC Rates market-making desk, ensuring a complete understanding of the drivers and collaborating with middle office, technology, and quantitative research teams to ensure accurate reporting
- Analyze P&L explanations through first-order and second-order Greeks across Fixed Income products such as Swaps, Options, Bonds, Futures, Forwards, Inflation derivatives, Swaptions, and Repos
- Ensure correct risk sensitivity is sent to Value at Risk and provide commentary on ensuing back-testing results
- Perform the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial books and records in collaboration with the Financial Control Group, and work with the Valuation Control group to ensure valuation adjustments are correctly recorded
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly commentary to senior management on clean P&L and VAR breaches
- Review and qualitatively validate Line of Business inputs into quarterly US external reporting, providing meaningful trending analysis and commentary based on risk and GAAP lines for trading results
- Report and analyze balance sheet and risk-weighted assets in line with Corporate & Investment Bank minimum standards
- Ascertain a thorough understanding of the end-to-end technology platform, trade lifecycle, and associated feeds/downstream systems
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the end-to-end control environment
- Ensure adherence to internal and external policies/regulations, including Regulation K and Antitrust compliance
- Partner with teams across APAC, EMEA, and NA, and across functions such as Front Office, Business Management, Middle Office, Technology, Quantitative Research, Legal Entity Control, Financial Control, and other Finance functions
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in Product Control function of a trading business or similar role in Markets business in Financial Services Industry
- Minimum 3 years of working experience on comprehensive Profit & Loss reporting requirement under Volcker rule, risk concepts, transfer pricing, FX exposure management and ability to connect the linkage across risk groups
- Demonstrate an understanding of system flows from trade cycle perspective, trade booking to risk management system to P&L & Risk to Sub-ledger and General Ledger
- Ability to work under pressure and in a constant changing environment
- Ability to work and partner effectively with global teams in different time zones and flexible to work outside regular working works on critical business days if required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to identify and solve problems independently
- Strong desktop/spreadsheet/database skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Good understanding of risk management, revenue reporting systems and end to end infrastructure
- Knowledge of interest rates and FX products
- Experience in accounting of Bonds, Repo and interest rates derivative products
- Ability to challenge status quo and promote efficiency and innovation of processes
- VBA skill desirable
