The Role

SMEC are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our rail team in North Sydney. The successful candidate will design and deliver mechanical services for various rail projects. This role is suitable for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Building Services background, wanting to expand their project portfolio and work on major rail projects across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction
  • Conducting feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections
  • Reviewing mechanical designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
  • Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals
  • Proactively collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 2-4 year’s Mechanical Engineering experience, working for a Building Services design consultancy
  • Experience preparing detailed mechanical services design documentation across rail, infrastructure, mixed-use or commercial projects
  • Strong AutoCAD, Camel and Revit experience
  • Must have strong understanding of relevant Australian codes and standards
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation
  • Accountability for project delivery and budget
