About the role: This role will be working for our Mars Snacking segment, where we keep chocolate flowing and create daily moments of joy.

Role Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Asquith, Sydney NSW
Hours: Rotating 12 hour Day Shift (6am-6pm)

(Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) following week Thursday/Friday/Saturday
Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Are you a skilled mechanical fitter seeking a new challenge? We are excited to offer you the opportunity to take on a pivotal role in our dynamic team as we strive for total reliability on our site.

In this role, you will be responsible for not only maintaining our factory equipment but also ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our production lines. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

What you’ll do:

  • Conducting preventative maintenance on machines to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing faulty manufacturing and utility equipment while identifying and addressing the root cause of the issue.

  • Completing all necessary paperwork related to breakdowns, safety, and quality to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrating a sense of urgency to promptly address any potential faults and ensure all lines are fully operational.

  • Adhering to our quality, housekeeping, safety, and cleaning procedures to maintain a safe and productive work environment.

  • Collaborating with our dynamic team to improve and optimize our machines and processes.

Your unique ingredients:

  • Recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification (Cert 3 Engineering Trade).

  • Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment (FMCG, food production or similar).

  • Mechanical fault finding & problem-solving skills.

  • Welding experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a service-oriented mindset—proactively collaborating with operations and cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.

  • Ability to operate general workshop machine tools E.g. Lathe, mill, drill

  • Prepare and support factory start up and shutdowns.

  • Proficient in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), e.g. SAP PM.
