Role Overview:
The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities.
As we continue to accelerate the aircraft into operational service, we are seeking the very best talent from a diverse range of backgrounds to help grow and contribute to our innovative team.
As an ICT-savvy Senior Systems Design & Integration Engineer within the In Service Engineering Team you will be responsible for integrating and verifying an aircraft interfaced computing system, encompassing both hardware and software components. This is a high-level "hands-on" individual contributor role, essential to ensuring our technical systems are viable, cost-effective, fully integrated and supportable whilst meeting rigorous standards for usability, functionality, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Design & Requirements Management:
    • Design and integrate complex computing environments using both COTS and MIL-spec equipment.
    • Execute the full technical lifecycle of products and components aligned to EIA 632, from requirement identification to implementation and support.
    • Provide expert-level troubleshooting and technical analysis for complex, escalated system issues.
    • Ensure all hardware and software selections meet strict security, capacity, and performance requirements.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and graduates to support team capability.
  • Technical Support & Problem Resolution:
    • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) providing technical consultation and support for the implementation and end-user operation of delivery systems.
    • Leverage advanced technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex, escalated system problems using specialized computing system knowledge.
    • Collaborate with external product suppliers to drive enhancements and resolve technical issues that cannot be mitigated in-house.
    • Maintain meticulous documentation of all resolutions and technical analyses in accordance with established support procedures.

Required Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Technical Expertise: Relevant University Degree and proven ability to integrate software and COTS and MIL-spec hardware within complex computing environments, with strong diagnosis and fault-finding abilities, within Linux and Windows environments (Essential).
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve high-level, escalated system failures (Essential).
  • Communication: Ability to work withing an Agile environment and work frequency and being able to lead professional technical discussions with internal and external teams to satisfy project needs (Essential).
  • Mentoring: Ability to play a key part in the team's growth by mentoring junior engineers (Essential).
  • Security: Experience implementing ISM controls and adhering to AS/NZS and MIL specifications (Highly regarded).
  • Compliance & Documentation: Disciplined approach to documenting system design, technical analyses, and resolution procedures utilising the project's tools (eg. Atlassian suite, DOORS, MSOSA) and procedures (Essential).
  • Defence Clearance: Current NV1 or higher and be able to meet other necessary requirements (Essential).
