The National Pharmacy Business Director leads a team of Retail Pharmacy Account Managers to optimize business performance through strategic planning, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration. The National Pharmacy Business Director (NPBD) is responsible for the supervision and leadership of Retail Pharmacy Account Manager (RAM) within their local geography, managing the retail pharmacy business performance and deployment of sales and marketing strategies in alignment with Regional, National, and Business Unit priorities. The NPBD will coach the account team to be impactful, consistent, and engaging to build productive relationships with retail pharmacy field leaders. Productive retail pharmacy field leader relationships will result in operationalized pharmacies and create sustainable business for adult and adolescent products. Retail pharmacy field leaders have divisional, regional, and district responsibility of stores, clinical trainers, pharmacy staff leadership, and P&L accountability.
To succeed in this role, the candidate must excel at working in both lateral and vertical organizations both within Pfizer and the customer organization. Must be adept at creating a vision for the future and coach the account team to create a pathway to optimize the Retail Pharmacy customer opportunities and are expected to demonstrate strong business acumen and an understanding of the local landscape to identify and assess key stakeholders plus future trends within the marketplace. Collaboration is key. While this role is field based, it will require coordination with HQ and across Pfizer. The NPBD is a part of an internal Pfizer team working together toward Customer Planning, Operationalization, and Quarterly Business Reviews.
There will be 10-15 Retail Pharmacy Account Managers (RAM) reporting into this role. The RAM & NPBD will be trained and certified on all appropriate Retail Pharmacy products.

- Work in the field with all team members to develop and maintain account management skills, business acumen, product knowledge, and capabilities needed for successful performance and development
- Ensure team completes full Account Management curriculum training, as well as Retail Pharmacy specific training
- Train and coach team on appropriate use of internal data dashboards and reports to assess business potential and impact
- Train team to compliantly share approved externally facing data with Retail Pharmacy Field Leaders
- Plan and conduct POA and other meetings with leadership, marketing and other cross‑functional teams
- Maintain required expertise in order to respond accurately to questions regarding products, policies, and business‑related issues from team
Strategy, Performance & Resource Allocation
- Develop a business plan that is reflective of market dynamics, brand priorities, and alignment across the specific retailer footprint
- Implement internal team strategic plans aligned with regional and national pharmacy objectives
- Monitor performance and adapt strategic plans to achieve the business potential of the team
- Demonstrate agility and business acumen to lead the RAM team and make decisions
- Prioritize resources across RAM team for positive business results
Account Planning, Project Execution & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Retail Trade Account Director (TAD) to craft and implement customer account plans, and share critical field level information to drive bottom/up and top/down approaches
- Confirm your RAM team develops expert account plans and practices effective project management using Pfizer Account Management resources, implements the plans, and measures the impact of these customer‑aligned Projects and Educations
- Maintain team focus on identifying & prioritizing top Retail areas to progress the Operationalization process and track the progress of these identified areas (i.e., Communication, Education, Patient Identification, Execution, and Stocking)
- Establish and maintain an effective and compliant communications system among all members of the internal Account Leadership and Field Sales Teams (i.e., Retail Acct Management, Trade, Marketing/CCG, Field Medical, Sales)
- Engage with cross‑functional teams to execute on opportunities for brand Operationalization
- Ensure team collaborates with local Sales Area Business Managers (ABMs) to align their teams to support pull through, when appropriate
- Engage with internal stakeholders around prioritized customers and business to understand and/or identify opportunities within assigned channels and seeks to balance stakeholder engagement leveraging a holistic view of the business
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to leadership, marketing and other cross‑functional teams to help solve problems or action plan for business opportunities
Market Insight & Growth Orientation
- Understand current and emerging market and customer/channel trends to utilize when coaching to account management skills, brand messaging, and appropriate utilization of resources
- Drive an entrepreneurial culture, helping your RAM team uncover business leads, connections to decision makers and drive appropriate business
Compliance & Governance
- Have a complete understanding of all relevant compliance laws, policies and processes. Ensures actions of self and team are fully compliant
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of leadership experience, in the pharmaceutical industry within sales, marketing, health management, strategy, or at retail pharmacy or relevant experience.
- BA/BS Degree. MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience with Organized Customers or Retailers, including experience working with executive management.
- Valid US driver's license and driving record in compliance with company standards. Any DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citation within the past 7 years will disqualify you from being hired.

- Previous pharmaceutical, biotech or retail experience with vaccines experience
- Previous account management supervisory experience and ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on Pfizer business imperatives is necessary to be successful in this role
- Experience working with key thought leaders or high influence customers
- Proven track record of successful team-based account management in new environment
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze and draw appropriate conclusions using sales data and relevant reporting applications.
- Has self-awareness and understands personal strengths and limitations
- Must be perceptive in assessing opportunities and probability of success
- Must be able to demonstrate excellence in selling skills and account management
- Must be proficient in executive-level presentations to coach executive presence.
