The opportunity

As a National Portfolio Specialist within the Chief Underwriting Office, you will report to the National Portfolio Manager (NPM) and be responsible for providing technical support, pricing strategies, underwriting rules and portfolio analysis on a national basis to ensure the Property portfolio achieves plan. 

Whilst supporting the NPM, there will be many opportunities for you to take ownership and work autonomously on critical tasks. It is extremely important that you are a self-starter and motivated to take responsibility to make something your own.

About the role

A day in the role may look a bit like this;

  • Assist in the revision, maintenance, development and implementation of policy wordings and endorsements, including the revision of claims to adjust and tailor policy wordings in accordance with the portfolio experience

  • Assist in the revision, maintenance, and implementation of Underwriting Rules

  • Support the NPM to develop, deliver and drive an effective and profitable product strategy, including monitoring and revision as required

  • Support the underwriters to respond to customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner

  • Support the NPM to ensure internal, regulatory, and legislative compliance of the product

  • Assist with and participate in Underwriting technical audits

  • Assist the NPM in developing technical support and guidance material for the Underwriters

  • Maintain and update product documentation to ensure they remain relevant

  • Maintain and update evolve product tables

  • Provide support to the Product Working Group(s) and Product Committee(s)

  • Develop and maintain networks and relationships with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, IT and Finance

About you

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Insurance Underwriting and/or Underwriting Governance experience

  • Experience in Governance Underwriting testing and compliance as well as broader compliance experience

  • Experience in change management, implementation of new ratings, models and tools  as well as experience integrating new workflows.

  • A proven self-starter attitude with the ability to adapt, motivation to learn and a willingness to take ownership

  • Proven ability to think laterally and analytically to solve problems

  • Good organisational skills, an eye for detail and able to plan, prioritise and adapt

  • Ability to communicate to and with all levels of the organisation
