WHAT YOU'LL DO 

Optiver is seeking a Network Engineer (Operations) with a passion for solving complex problems, optimizing performance, and reducing network complexity. As part of a team that manages the infrastructure for our proprietary trading systems, you will directly contribute to the design, optimization, and maintenance of globally distributed networks that are critical to our low-latency trading operations. Speed, reliability, and scalability are at the center of everything we do, and your work will have a direct impact on the performance of our market-making activities. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Providing technical expertise to support a high-frequency trading environment
  • Automating and monitoring network infrastructure, reducing manual interventions
  • Supporting end-to-end infrastructure deployments, including network and UNIX platforms, across data centers and global WAN environments
  • Assisting with planned upgrades and maintenance (migrations, expansions, hardware and software upgrades)
  • Ensuring proper function of WAN networks across data centers and colocations
  • Contributing to capacity planning, connectivity improvements, and traffic flow optimization
  • Driving research and innovation to improve infrastructure reliability and performance, including evaluating bleeding-edge technology for use in the trading stack
  • Contributing to the ongoing standardization of our environments & our Infrastructure as Code vision
  • Collaborating with developers, researchers, and hardware engineers on projects requiring a stable and scalable platform

WHO YOU ARE

  • 5+ years of working experience as a network engineer
  • Strong knowledge of network performance, monitoring, and capacity planning
  • Experience in monitoring and managing diverse international WAN networks
  • Able to monitor, debug, troubleshoot issues arising in LAN/ WANs
  • Proficiency in network transport and routing protocols (TCP/UDP, OSPF, BGP, Multicast)
  • Comfortable working with multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto)
  • Experience with L2/L3 networking, firewalls, and network security
  • Ability to coordinate with 3rd parties and manage projects end-to-end
  • Familiar with Unix systems and data center management
  • Certifications like Arista ACE level 3, PCNSE, Cisco CCIE, CCNP or beyond are a plus
