What is the role 

Mon-Fri full time, offering hybrid options with paid on-call roster and paid overtime required.

We are currently on the hunt for a Network Engineer who has experience working for an IT Systems Integrator or Managed Service Provider.

This role focuses on providing technical support to customers including remedial maintenance support on Infrastructure, LAN and WAN Networks as well as the implementation of new projects. 

Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to ff:

  • Provide both remote and onsite technical support for client environments.
  • Design, test, diagnose, repair, configure, and upgrade network and IT hardware.
  • Implement and maintain firewall systems to ensure network security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network faults, evaluating and applying effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand and address technical requirements.
  • Optimize performance and reliability of client systems through proactive maintenance.
  • Ensure the security and privacy of client data and systems.
  • Recommend suitable technologies and products for client projects.
  • Create and maintain high-level and low-level technical design documentation.
  • Serve as an escalation point and mentor for junior team members.
  • Monitor system logs and initiate incident tasks when necessary.
  • Respond to incidents and problems in alignment with SLA commitments.
  • Coordinate with vendors for support and issue resolution.
  • Verify equipment configurations, error logs, and code levels meet specifications.
  • Develop and maintain technical procedures and documentation for supported systems.
  • Continuously improve and automate technical processes.
  • Stay updated on deployed technologies through self-study and training.
  • Accurately document daily activities using time tracking systems.
  • Participation in the on call roster for out of hours support

 

Who we are looking for 

Successful candidate must possess:

  • 5+ years in a dedicated networking role
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies.
  • Proficient in configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experienced with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and cloud networking is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant IT or technical field.
  • Holds mid-level certifications from vendors like CCNA or CCNP Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos, Microsoft, VMware, Symantec, and/or Citrix.
  • Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and client-focused mindset.
  • Capable of logical and lateral thinking under pressure.
  • Demonstrates good time management and a strong willingness to learn and share knowledge.
