Responsibilities of the Role

Global Networks & Technology - Network & Infrastructure Engineering designs and delivers Telstra's network and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they're reliable, scalable, and secure.

This role requires a deep understanding of network design, optimization techniques, and applied mathematical modelling.

The ideal candidate will focus on improving network resilience, performance, resource allocation, and operational efficiencies using advanced optimization methodologies. Leveraging expertise in game theory, operations research, system optimization, and statistical analysis, the candidate will work on critical network challenges that enhance cost efficiency and service reliability.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and implement optimization models to enhance network efficiency, resiliency  and resource utilization across complex telecom infrastructures.

  • Analyse network performance data to identify bottlenecks and design strategies for reducing congestion, improving throughput, and optimizing routing protocols.

  • Apply game theory principles, particularly in multi-agent conflict resolution, to optimize decision-making in areas such as multi-agent rApps.

  • Utilize operations research techniques, including linear, quadratic, and nonlinear programming, to solve network optimization challenges.

  • Collaborate with network architects and engineering teams to integrate optimization solutions into operational workflows, ensuring seamless deployment and functionality.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into network optimization & reliability strategies that align with long-term objectives.

  • Utilize advanced mathematical modeling techniques, such as statistical analysis, probability theory, and system optimization, to solve complex network challenges.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams, contributing technical expertise to enhance overall network reliability and efficiency.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in network technologies, optimization methodologies, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvements.

About You:

  • You have a strong academic background in network optimization, wireless networking, and applied mathematics.

  • Proficiency in system optimization, operations research, and game theory, with the ability to apply these concepts to network performance improvements.

  • Experience with network simulation tools and optimization frameworks to model and enhance real-world network conditions.

  • Solid understanding of wireless networks, routing protocols, and traffic engineering principles.

  • Expertise in statistical modelling and analysis techniques to improve network forecasting and decision-making.

  • Hands-on experience with linear, quadratic, and nonlinear programming to optimize network operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex network data and derive actionable insights..

  • Familiarity with database systems and mobile network architectures, ensuring effective network resource management.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • A continuous learning mindset, staying updated with the latest developments in network optimization and emerging technologies.
