Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with a passion for keeping networks running smoothly? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy tackling complex technical challenges? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are seeking a Network & Systems Administrator to join us. In this role, you will work with our IT team to manage and maintain our organization's network infrastructure. You will support business goals by combining open-source and vendor-purchased software. You'll make decisions to purchase appropriate hardware, and identify problems with existing systems. You'll have plenty of autonomy to solve problems the way you think is best, but you'll also have a supportive team backing you up and sparring your ideas.

Working with us, you can change lives every single day. Everything we do as part of our jobs contributes to improving the lives of our users on a global scale. Our mission is to provide one billion jobs. Not many companies actually make a difference like Freelancer does in providing opportunities and income to people all around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain multi-site network infrastructure — OPNsense/pfSense firewalls (incl. HA/CARP), IPsec VPNs, VLANs and UniFi wireless — for high availability across our global offices
  • Administer Google Workspace across multiple domains (user lifecycle, groups, security, licensing) using GAM and the admin console
  • Manage servers, virtualization (VMware/Proxmox) and storage, and own backup & disaster recovery (Synology NAS, image-level VM backups, offsite/cloud copies)
  • Run monitoring and alerting (e.g. LibreNMS, SNMP, Prometheus/PagerDuty) and respond to incidents; act as an escalation point for the helpdesk team
  • Manage infrastructure as code and automation — Terraform, Puppet, and scripting (Python/Bash) — to make changes repeatable and auditable
  • Make cost-effective hardware/software investments; plan and deliver upgrades, migrations and office build-outs on time
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry security requirements (incl. PCI-DSS for escrow.com) — patching, vulnerability remediation, email security (DMARC/DNS), and device lifecycle/sanitisation
  • Maintain asset inventory and documentation; assist the helpdesk with day-to-day support and collaborate with other departments on their technology needs

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in a sysadmin / IT infrastructure role
  • Comfortable supporting Windows, macOS and Linux
  • Deep networking — VLANs, firewalls, IPsec/VPNs, DNS, routing; OPNsense/pfSense and UniFi experience a strong plus
  • Google Workspace administration experience (GAM a plus); other SaaS/cloud (AWS) welcome
  • Virtualization, storage and backup/DR experience
  • Scripting and IaC exposure (Python/Bash, Terraform, Puppet) — or eagerness to learn
  • Solid grasp of cybersecurity principles; compliance experience (PCI-DSS/ISO) a plus
  • Strong diagnostic and root-cause skills on complex, cross-system issues

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional English communication skills — proficient in drafting documentation and articulating difficult technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Self-directed, well-organized, detail-oriented; able to prioritize across many small tickets and longer projects
  • Strong team collaboration skills across departments and time zones
  • The ability to self-motivate, leading initiatives independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

What we bring to the table:

  • A supportive work environment with meritocratic opportunities for career growth - we promote from within!
  • Access to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Weekly Town Halls with the all-important Q&A session with the CEO (you really can ask him anything)!
  • Friday lunches - We finish each week with a catered lunch. Each time we offer food from a different local restaurant.
  • Fully stocked kitchens… and yes, we do have beer taps (the bar has a killer view!)
  • Hack-a-thons - Get hacking and programming in this quarterly company-wide contest where teams create solutions to existing problems and win prizes. The 2-day event is filled with games, events, shows, food and more.
  • Fun events (we once built a soccer stadium in the office with two tonnes of turf…).
  • Our location at Grosvenor Place - Home of Freelancer HQ, this iconic building has harbour views, weekly complimentary classes/events, etc.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better:

  • Change lives every day - Everything we do as part of our jobs contribute to improving the lives of our users on a global scale. Our mission is to provide one billion jobs. Not many companies actually make a difference like Freelancer does in providing opportunity and income to people all around the world.
  • Fast-track your career - We boast a meritocratic culture, renowned for hiring into senior roles from within and producing many business and product leaders in the technology industry.
  • If you're passionate about technology and enjoy helping people, we'd love to hear from you! Join us as a Network & Systems Administrator and be an essential part of our team, driving better solutions and experiences for our users.
