WOOD-TV8 is looking for a dynamic and multi-talented News Anchor/Reporter to join a legacy TV station and an award-winning newsroom! Grand Rapids is a top 45 market. This is not an entry-level position. We’re looking for someone with a minimum of five years of professional experience in the field, at the anchor desk, and on digital. We need a polished presentation, energetic personality, a creative storyteller, a social media rock star, and – above all – a positive attitude and a drive to win. You’ll be expected to develop relationships with contacts, dig up story ideas, and follow and break the biggest news stories in West Michigan on News 8 and WOODTV+!

Duties/Responsibilities
- Must have solid vocal delivery and engaging camera presence.
- Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
- Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
- Must have the ability to report on all topics, especially breaking news, generate story ideas, display an on-air presence that is friendly and authoritative, and have a high-level of engagement on all social media platforms.
- Demonstrates compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand-ups, creative graphics and use of digital and social media platforms.
- Creates content you’ll anchor and report on News 8, WOODTV.com and WOODTV+.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree.
- Two years television anchoring or five years reporting experience preferred.
- Understand the importance of social media.
- Promotes teamwork and maintains an attitude of cooperation with all station personnel.
- Superior on-air presence.
- Excellent news judgement with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Anchor/Reporter must be able to stand, sit, reach, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, and work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment or items weighing up to 25 pounds.
