About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

About the role

Not admin. Operations.

We’re a high-growth startup with teams across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. Our Auckland office is our global HQ and the centre of the action. Leaders, board members, customers, candidates, and partners all walk through these doors.

We’re an office-first company because we believe great environments help great teams do their best work. Our Auckland HQ isn’t just somewhere people show up, it’s where ideas move quickly, relationships are built, and the energy of the company lives.

As we scale, the space, systems, and experience of our workplace need to scale with us. This is where you come in!

This is a newly created, core operational role inside one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing companies. You’ll take real ownership of how our physical environment runs and how our team experiences it - making sure the office works seamlessly while continuously improving how it looks, feels, and functions.

You’ll have the freedom to implement improvements, build simple systems, and shape an environment that keeps pace with a fast-moving, ambitious team.

This is the role for someone who runs at things, not away from them. Someone who notices the small details others miss, takes pride in creating great environments, and enjoys being relied on.

For the right person, this role is also a great entry point into a fast-scaling company, with the opportunity to work closely with leadership and grow your career as Halter continues to expand globally.

What you'll do:

Office Operations

Run the day-to-day with precision. Vendors, supplies, maintenance, invoices, logistics - nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.

Space & Experience

Keep the office sharp, welcoming, and visitor-ready at all times. You don't just maintain the space, you elevate it. You'll have the freedom and creative ownership to continually improve the look, feel, and flow of the space as the team grows.

Systems & Scale

Build simple systems that remove friction as we grow. You’re thinking ahead - what does this office need to look like when the team is 3x the size?

Culture & Moments

Partner with our internal teams to support in-office events and moments that bring the team together.

You’ll help make the office somewhere our people genuinely wake up excited to spend their day.

Day-to-Day
  • Managing vendors across cleaning, maintenance, security, and supplies - holding partners to high standards.

  • Tracking office spend and invoices with accuracy and care.

  • Logging and resolving maintenance issues quickly - you close threads, always.

  • Keeping the kitchen stocked, the coffee machine humming, and the space feeling great.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve how the space looks, feels, and functions - and taking ownership of making those improvements happen.

  • Sitting at the centre of a high-performing team and building strong relationships across every function.

Who You Are
  • You don’t wait to be told. You walk into a room and immediately clock what’s off, what could be better, and what’s about to become a problem. Then you fix it, often before anyone else even notices.

  • You bring calm to chaos, warmth to the day, and genuine pride to your work.

  • You love being relied on. You care about the details, not because you have to, but because that’s just how you’re wired.

  • Experience in office management or operations is helpful, but it’s not the point. The point is how you think, how you move, and the standards you hold yourself to.

  • You take pride in environments. You care about how spaces feel, not just how they function.

What Great Looks Like

People who thrive in this role tend to be:

  • Self-directed - comfortable owning their space and running with things.

  • Highly organised - able to juggle moving parts without dropping the ball.

  • Detail-obsessed - you notice the small things others miss.

  • Systems-minded - you build for scale, not just today.

  • Relationship-driven - you build trust with vendors, teams, and visitors alike.

  • Positive energy - you make the office feel better simply by being there.

You’ll Succeed At Halter If:
  • You get real satisfaction from walking into a space and knowing it works because of you.

  • You enjoy building simple systems that quietly make everyone’s life easier.

  • You notice the details before anyone asks, and act on them.

  • You like being part of a high-performing, ambitious team and you raise the energy around you.

  • You want a role with genuine ownership and room to grow, not just a checklist of tasks.

  • You see this as the start of a career at Halter, not just another job.
