The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Risk Senior Manager to join the Operational Risk team supporting the AUSPAC Modernisation Program. Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk – Modernisation, your role is to uplift the risk and control environment, providing specialist risk advice engagement with risk partners across the three lines of defence

Your new role

As a key first line of defence for AUSPAC Modernisation Program, you will be crucial to ensure that Program risks are effectively anticipated and managed. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support development of policy and guidance to support the Program.

  • Assist with the implementation of a consistent assurance approach across the program lifecycle, including methodologies for review, validation, and testing.

  • Conduct independent review and challenge of program artefacts, ensuring alignment with risk frameworks and regulatory expectations.

  • Assess work activities to identify Delivered Risk and Delivery Risk, recommending early course corrections.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and implement corrective actions, this may include operational risk peers and partners in first, second and third line risk to ensure alignment

  • Support the Program’s related risk activities including the coordination of operational risk management requirements, governance, regulatory and compliance activities and reporting

  • Monitor and review the risk metrics and indicators to identify problem areas early for remediation by business units.

  • Understand regulatory and external stakeholder requirements (including but not limited to regulators, rating agencies and shareholders).

About you

To be successful in this role you will have strong experience in a similar role in risk assurance, audit, or risk management within financial services. You will also have:

  • Familiarity in Risk-In-Change, Delivered Risk and Delivery Risk, Project Risk frameworks, Project methodologies and governance structures

  • Ability to provide critical review and challenge in a complex environment

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at an Executive level

  • Exposure to large-scale enterprise transformations, particularly in relation to regulatory compliance

  • Proven success in fast-paced environments, consistently meeting tight deadlines while upholding the highest standards, to drive outcomes within a matrix structure

  • The capability to navigate ambiguity and change, adeptly reprioritising initiatives as necessary
