About the Role (your why)  

As the Operations Services Manager you will be the operational, technical and strategic right hand to the General Manager – Network Major Accounts, ensuring continuity of leadership, proactive service delivery, and execution of key initiatives across major accounts. This role will provide day-to-day oversight of critical functions, drive operational excellence, and represent the GM in internal and external forums and technical escalations as required.

Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. Please note: Due to our customer requirements, you must have Australian Citizenship and be able to hold and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance to be considered for this position


What you’ll do   

The Operations Services Manager is responsible for (but not limited to):

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the execution of managed services across major accounts across a range of Australian customers including Federal Government accounts.
  • Drive proactive incident and problem management, ensuring dashboards and automation tools (e.g., SNOW, Zeus, MNS monitoring tools) are leveraged for efficiency 
  • Coordinate remediation programs and infrastructure transitions 

People & Performance Management

  • Lead and mentor team leaders and senior engineers, ensuring alignment with Datacom’s performance frameworks and values 
  • Support interim and end-of-year performance reviews, goal setting, and team recognition initiatives
  • Act as escalation point for team dynamics, resourcing gaps, and leadership transitions 

Client Engagement & Governance

  • Represent the GM in client meetings, workshops, and governance forums 
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with contractual obligations and customer expectations.
  • Support bid responses, pricing reviews, and contract transitions 

Strategic Projects & Transformation

  • Support initiatives such as the ITSM tools transition, network service reviews, and automation uplift 
  • Lead or support business cases for new roles (e.g., Reporting Analyst), tools, or process improvements 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic planning and delivery.

What you’ll bring  

To be successful, you will bring strong technical acumen and hands-on experience in enterprise network environments. You will also have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven leadership experience in a complex, multi-client network operations environment.
  • Extensive experience in a technical leadership position supporting outsourced Network operations within a complex enterprise-wide environment
  • Strong understanding of managed services, ITIL practices, and enterprise tooling 
  • Experience with outsourcing environments with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience with performance management, team development, and operational governance.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, drive change, and deliver under pressure.
  • Deep understanding of network infrastructure including routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, and WAN optimization.
  • Proficiency with enterprise tooling and automation platforms.
  • Experience with network transformation projects, including migrations, EOL hardware transitions, and infrastructure remediation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of billable service models.
