Make the network run faster, safer, and cheaper.
You know optimisation isn’t theory.
It’s flow.
It’s uptake.
It’s standard work that sticks.
Team Global Express runs a high‑velocity Palletised Express network - cross-docks, linehaul, PUD, subcontractors, real constraints.
Now we need someone who turns operational friction into measurable uplift.
Not a slide‑deck strategist.
Not a passive CI coach.
Not just analytics.
A hands-on optimisation lead who goes to the floor, fixes the bottleneck, and proves the benefit.
The setup
• You'll be supported by the GM - Network Operations
• Based in Eastern Creek (William Dean)
• Hybrid model - 1 day per week from home
• Travel to major sites (at least 5 times per year)
• Lead cross‑functional squads (no formal DRs initially)
• Strong mandate, great support, competitive package
What you’ll lead
You’ll partner with depot managers, linehaul, CI, productivity engineering, reporting and planning to:
• Improve POD and facility flow; reduce dwell time
• Lift driver utilisation and reduce paid hours
• Optimise subcontractor payment and shift structures
• Tighten run‑rate discipline, handling speed and load planning
• Lift linehaul utilisation and trailer fill
• Standardise work methods and visual management
• Reduce rework, damage and waste
• Build a rolling optimisation roadmap with clear, owned benefits
Your work keeps the network stable - and performing.
In your first 12 months
Success looks like:
• ≥5% reduction in cost to serve across Palletised Express
• Faster cycle times and smoother cross-dock flow
• Higher PUD productivity and stronger load factor
• Clear baselines, trusted tracking and weekly cadence
• Standard work embedded - and still being followed 90+ days later
This isn’t about reporting performance.
It’s about changing it.
What you’ll bring
• Proven optimisation experience in express freight, palletised freight, 3PL or similar environments
• Lean/Six Sigma or process engineering capability with delivered savings
• Data‑literate (Power BI/Tableau), strong with baselining and variance analysis
• Experience shifting from hourly to productivity‑based subcontracting
• Comfortable on the floor - depot, yard, dock - and in the data
• Curious, proactive problem solver with bias for action
• Respectful challenger who builds trust and momentum
>If you prefer theory over action, this isn’t your role.
>If you like clarity, cadence and measurable uplift - you’ll thrive.
