Job Description

We’re looking for a Pacific Head of Finance to join our finance team in Sydney, Australia! 

If you’ve got Financial Services experience dealing with Financial Resources Process & Controls, Audit and Advisory, and working with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally, and an interest in working at one of the fastest growing FinTech companies, read on! 

As Wise continues to grow, we need to grow our finance capabilities to:

  • Help pilot the rocket ship. The Finance capabilities are essential to steer the ship in the right direction, ensuring we comply with accounting, regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Work with the APAC Regional Finance Lead, as well as other Finance teams, Regional Controllers and the Reporting & Tax teams to ensure financial compliance, including controlling local audits, outsource firms, and financial regulatory relationships.
  • Be the regional Expansion, Banking, Compliance, Product, & People Team’s main point of contact in finance to ensure that all new entities, products, legislation, etc. are understood and finance is prepared for all changes, ensuring that the customer product is understood and optimised for growth.
  • Work with finance teams (Finance Product team and Group Accounting) to ensure systems, controls, and processes are prepared for regional requirements, with clear definitions and change management.
  • Review monthly and quarterly financials to ensure all accuracy of your entities.

 

Qualifications

  • You're an experienced finance professional with a background in financial controlling, audit, advisory, or management accounting, ideally within Banking, FinTech, or financial services.
  • You have a deep understanding of Statutory GAAP in Australia/New Zealand and IFRS, coupled with expertise in financial resources controls and industry-specific regulatory rules.
  • You're skilled at data analysis, improving controls and internal processes, and managing complex stakeholder groups (like the Board, Auditors, Advisors, and Government Authorities).
  • As a finance business partner, you provide commercial insights, support decisions, and align with business strategy.
  • You thrive in a flexible environment, working with various teams on projects and ad-hoc requests.
  • You're a self-starter, detail-oriented, and comfortable with uncertainty, able to organise your work with minimal guidance.
  • You'll take ownership of Wise Australia's Financial Resources Process and Controls, ensuring compliance as an Accountable Person under Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) or other applicable regulations.
  • This is a hybrid role based in Sydney, Australia.
