Job DescriptionJoin TAL’s People Services and Innovation team as a Payroll Assurance Specialist. In this role, you will ensure TAL's payroll runs smoothly, complies with regulations, and maximizes the Payroll Platform's capabilities. The role is also responsible for providing everyday excellence for our employees by providing quality production of payroll activities for TAL, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
This role provides opportunities to develop skills and knowledge related to the Payroll Platform and involves collaboration with the team to support an effective payroll solution. Additionally, the role assists the Payroll Services and Compliance Manager with payroll processing, verification of payroll accuracy and compliance, and contributes to building team capability on the updated Payroll Platform.
In this role you will:
- Ensure all payroll processing calculations and payments are in accordance with relevant legislation and Awards and Enterprise Agreement interpretation
- Ensure compliance with each state Payroll Tax legislation, including lodgements and payment
- Manage the superannuation process, including lodgement and payment, returned superannuation processing and assist Finance with superannuation clearing account reconciliation
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with company policies and regulations
- Perform reconciliations as required, such as data comparisons between Workday and Dayforce, to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Collaborate with the Platforms team and external Payroll Platform support to implement upgrades, changes and enhancements to the Payroll Platform
- Identify new and better ways to improve and simplify payroll processes, including suggestions for automation or alternative steps
- Assist with the end-to-end processing and maintenance of the fortnightly payroll and ensure all data is accurate and paid in a timely manner
- Assist with processing, calculating and managing payroll adjustments, terminations, leave reconciliations, parental leave payments, and one-off (bonus/commission/ referral) payments
- Extensive Payroll systems experience (Dayforce highly desirable)
- Strong previous experience working in Payroll with a company size > 1000 employees
- Exceptional customer service skills and service-oriented approach with an energetic and positive mindset
- Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills
- Award/EA Interpretation experience (preferably multiply awards and/or EAs)
- Highly organised, deadline orientated, excellent time management, and the ability to multi-task
- An excellent knowledge of Payroll legislation including taxation, superannuation, terms and leave
