The Role


Our team is looking for an APAC and UK Payroll Specialist to manage the Australian and UK payroll function. The Payroll Specialist will oversee the entire payroll process, including salary adjustments, verifying timesheets, calculating wages, and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. As the primary point of contact for APAC and UK employees regarding payroll queries, the candidate must provide clear, accurate, and timely responses, leveraging their expertise to offer guidance and support. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex information in an easily understandable manner.


The ideal candidate is forward thinking, analytical and methodical, with extensive experience in payroll processing and administration and an expert in their field. Your goal will be to ensure payroll procedures are current, compliant and efficient. You will own the systems necessary to process payroll including Rippling alongside our various benefits platforms and work closely with the Finance & Accounting team in Sydney, Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payroll for APAC and UK employees, including salary adjustments, pensions, benefits, and related deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian and UK employment laws (e.g., Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, UK National Minimum Wage, holiday entitlement, auto-enrolment pension schemes).
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll updates (new hires, terminations, pay rate changes).
  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related queries from employees and managers.
  • Develop and implement payroll controls to ensure data integrity and compliance with tax, superannuation, and labour laws.
  • Conduct routine payroll audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Administer PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions (UK) and PAYG and Superannuation (Australia).
  • Prepare year-end reports including P60, P11D (UK), and other necessary forms.
  • Continuously review payroll procedures for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance improvements.
  • Collaborate with HR/People team on compensation updates, new hires, separations, and data changes.
  • Manage timely tax filing and reporting for state and federal taxes in the UK and Australia, including year-end reporting.
  • Stay up-to-date with payroll laws, awards, and taxation regulations, and update processes as needed with internal stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a payroll professional
  • Proven experience in processing Australia and UK payroll payroll
  • Experience in conducting payroll audits (internal or external)
  • Experience working with global teams across the APAC, US and UK time zones 
  • Experience with Rippling and Netsuite would be advantageous
