What Does An Average Day Look Like?

No day is average at hummgroup, but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and leaders, offering guidance and support on first-level employee relations issues, including disciplinary matters and performance improvement plans, and interpreting and communicating HR policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Hiring Managers to provide recruitment support, including job postings, screening, shortlisting, interview scheduling and post-interview checks (approximately 50% of the role).

  • Ensure employee data in the HRIS (Workday) is maintained accurately and kept up to date.
  • Manage company-wide WH&S Committee meetings and support WH&S obligations, including processing workers compensation claims and tracking and reporting WH&S incidents.
  • Work with the Head of People & Reward to identify and implement continuous improvements.
  • Provide support to People Partners and other stakeholders in managing P&C activities across the annual cycle (e.g. performance, reward, talent & succession planning, engagement, learning & development).
  • Conduct audits of HR data and processes to ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance-related issues and instances of non-compliance are escalated and/or reported appropriately.
  • Actively support employees through their workplace journey and contribute to creating a positive culture in line with our stated behaviours.

Who will thrive in this role?

You are an energetic and relationship-driven professional, passionate about connecting the right people to the right opportunities. You excel in fast-paced environments, juggling competing priorities while staying focused on delivering meaningful outcomes. You are passionate about delivering a positive employee experience and take pride in guiding our people through ‘moments that matter’ across the employee lifecycle.

We’re also looking for someone who brings:

  • 3-5 years of experience in HR roles, with a focus on employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.

  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and peers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills along with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations and industrial relations frameworks.
  • The ability to research, analyse, and make logical decisions within a given timeframe.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software (Workday desirable) and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
  • HR or related tertiary qualifications (highly desirable).
