What's so exciting about this role?
With a strong operational focus across the full employee lifecycle, the People Adviser provides high-quality support to the broader People & Culture team. Partnering closely with People Partners, Talent Acquisition and business leaders, the role delivers support across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance and development.
What Does An Average Day Look Like?
No day is average at hummgroup, but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and leaders, offering guidance and support on first-level employee relations issues, including disciplinary matters and performance improvement plans, and interpreting and communicating HR policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Hiring Managers to provide recruitment support, including job postings, screening, shortlisting, interview scheduling and post-interview checks (approximately 50% of the role).
- Collaborate with the Performance & Capability Lead to support and improve onboarding and hiring processes.
- Work with the People Partners to support the operational aspects of organisational change, including preparing documentation, change letters, collating feedback, contract management, templates and knowledge articles.
- Ensure employee data in the HRIS (Workday) is maintained accurately and kept up to date.
- Manage company-wide WH&S Committee meetings and support WH&S obligations, including processing workers compensation claims and tracking and reporting WH&S incidents.
- Work with the Head of People & Reward to identify and implement continuous improvements.
- Provide support to People Partners and other stakeholders in managing P&C activities across the annual cycle (e.g. performance, reward, talent & succession planning, engagement, learning & development).
- Conduct audits of HR data and processes to ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
- Assist with ensuring compliance-related issues and instances of non-compliance are escalated and/or reported appropriately.
- Actively support employees through their workplace journey and contribute to creating a positive culture in line with our stated behaviours.

We’re also looking for someone who brings:
- 3-5 years of experience in HR roles, with a focus on employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.
- Recruitment and candidate management experience, including sourcing, screening and interviewing.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, write and implement policies and procedures.
- Experience in providing support and advice to employees regarding general human resource matters.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and peers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organisation and time management skills along with strong attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations and industrial relations frameworks.
- The ability to research, analyse, and make logical decisions within a given timeframe.
- Proficiency in HRIS software (Workday desirable) and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
- HR or related tertiary qualifications (highly desirable).
