The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate People and Culture Manager to lead HR initiatives across the APAC region. Reporting to the Vice President, People and Culture, APAC, this dynamic role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engagement and execution of key initiatives that enable us to achieve our strategic growth goals, whilst fostering a high performance and collaborative culture.

The position will work closely with the APAC business, Regional teams and Global Centers of Expertise (COEs), while utilising People & Culture processes and platforms to achieve short- and medium-term business plans.

You will work as part of a regional People and Culture team, with a specific focus on supporting our operations in Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Japan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Business Partnering : Oversee the delivery of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with Cochlear’s global vision and APAC-specific needs.

  • Talent Management: Develop and implement frameworks for talent acquisition, retention, and development across the region.

  • Culture Building: Drive initiatives that foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace.

  • Compliance and Policy: Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations across multiple APAC jurisdictions.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with regional leadership to support business goals and align people strategies with organisational priorities.

  • Employee Engagement: Champion employee well-being, diversity, and inclusion through innovative programs and practices.

About You
To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in HR leadership roles within the APAC region, preferably in the medical device or healthcare sectors.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • A deep understanding of cultural nuances and employment frameworks across APAC countries.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire diverse teams.

  • Expertise in talent management, organisational development, and change management.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and customer focus, solution oriented.

  • Strong project management: ability to manage competing priorities with a strong eye for detail.

  • Strong initiative and solid judgment.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering effective engagement strategies and learning and development initatives

  • Experience in developing and upskilling leadership teams
