Support engineering teams as a People Experience Business Partner, providing HR advice, coaching leaders, and facilitating organisational growth and change management.
Our Purpose
At Xero, we’re here to help supercharge small businesses. We do this by automating routine tasks, surfacing actionable insights and connecting businesses with the right data, advisors and apps. When that happens, we’re not only making life better for small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
We are looking for a strategic yet hands-on People Experience Business Partner to join us for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will partner with our Engineering Payments, and Payroll portfolio, which is a large, scaling organisation of 350+ people. If you have a logical mindset, love working with technical teams, and thrive in an environment focused on organisational evolution and growth, we want to hear from you.
How you’ll make an impact
You will work as a trusted partner to senior leaders, translating business goals into consistent and impactful people initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to provide both strategic and generalist support, helping to shape the organisational design and effectiveness of a critical engineering portfolio as it continues to scale.
What you'll do
- Partner on Strategy & Evolution: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to execute a strategic people plan that supports the portfolio's ongoing growth and organisational maturity.
- Provide Expert Coaching: Identify coaching opportunities and engage in honest, constructive conversations to support senior leaders in managing complex people matters and team dynamics.
- Deliver Generalist HR Support: Provide credible advice across the full spectrum of HR, including remuneration, performance management, retention, and legislative compliance, ensuring alignment with Xero’s global structure.
- Simplify Complexity: Analyse trends and navigate complex problems, communicating solutions and advice in a clear, logical, and helpful manner to technical stakeholders.
- Operational Execution: Balance strategic planning with "getting your hands dirty" to ensure recruitment priorities are met and new programs are successfully embedded within teams.
What you’ll bring with you
- Proven experience as a Business Partner supporting Engineering or technical teams within a complex, scaling, or global organisation.
- Experience in guiding teams through organisational change, with the ability to build and reinforce high-performance cultures.
- Strong generalist HR foundation with the agility to pivot between high-level strategy and operational execution.
- A logical, flexible approach with the ability to simplify complex communications and iterate on solutions rather than seeking immediate perfection.
- Exceptional coaching and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior leaders and build trust quickly.
