We're hiring Lorikeet's first dedicated People team member in Sydney, where ~45 of our ~70 people sit.

This isn't a narrow role. You'll be the on-the-ground extension of our People function — owning talent, employee experience, people ops, and culture across our largest office. You'll run employee and candidate experience end-to-end, make sure new hires hit the ground running, keep the office humming, and be the person who notices when something needs attention before anyone else has to say it.

We're looking for someone who's excited by both ends of the spectrum: unglamorous execution and real exposure to leadership-level ops at a fast-scaling startup. This role is explicitly both.

What you'll do

Recruiting & People Operations

  • Partner with the Recruiting team on interview coordination, and candidate experience across Sydney roles. You’ll own the candidate experience, track what's working, and continuously improve conversion

  • Own first-week onboarding for all Sydney hires and make it exceptional

  • Manage AU-specific admin: insurance renewals, visa matters (working with our immigration lawyers), intern coordination, and the like

  • Partner with our People Ops team to share the broader global people ops load

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Own the visitor and cross-geo experience — when US or UK team members visit Sydney, make it a genuine highlight

  • Be the person who notices when something's off: a team under pressure, a new hire who's adrift, someone quietly disengaging — and flag it or act on it

Office Operations

  • Produce and improve Sydney-side company forums: start-of-week, monthly business reviews, all-hands. Treat them like a product — measure, iterate, make them better over time

  • Stage-manage: coach presenters, prep demos, and ensure the remote experience is as good as being in the room

  • Keep the Sydney office running smoothly— building management, vendors, equipment, groceries. Own it fully.

About you
  • 2-3 years of experience, likely from a consulting, operations, or generalist background

  • High EQ — you read rooms well, build trust quickly, and notice things others miss

  • High agency — you see what needs doing and do it, without being asked twice

  • Low ego — genuinely comfortable doing unglamorous work, because you understand why it matters

  • Strong organisational skills and a high bar for quality, whether you're running a candidate interview day, or arranging a team lunch

  • Comfortable operating across multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment

  • Happy to be in our Surry Hills office 5 days/week

About Lorikeet

Lorikeet is the most powerful customer support AI for complex businesses — fintechs, healthtechs, marketplaces, and delivery services. We're redefining what support looks like: transparent, customizable AI handling the volume, so support teams can focus on what actually matters.

We're backed by over USD $50M from QED, Blackbird, Square Peg, and operators like Claire Hughes Johnson (ex-Stripe COO) and Cristina Cordova (Linear COO). Our customers include some of the largest telehealth, fintech, and marketplace companies in the US and Australia — many processing over 1 million support tickets a year.

What's in it for you

Warm, mature, flexible culture. Low ego, high trust — no tolerance for talented jerks. We work efficiently, keep hours flexible, and genuinely mean it when we say we value eagerness to learn over traditional credentials. We're committed to building a diverse team and actively encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds.

Competitive comp, real ownership. We aim to match unicorn/scale-up base salaries and offer equity that could be genuinely life-changing. The whole team gets the same investor updates — because you'll be an investor and owner too.

Scope that punches above your title. You'll sit at the intersection of talent, culture, ops, and leadership — with real exposure to how a fast-scaling startup is built, from the inside.

A recruitment process that respects your time. 1) Informal chats with our People Ops and Operations team — we'll share our story and look forward to hearing yours. 2) A ~two-day paid work trial where you work with us. No better way to figure out if we're a fit than to actually work together.

What you need to know about the Sydney Tech Scene

From opera to comedy shows, the Sydney Opera House hosts more than 1,600 performances a year, yet its entertainment sector isn't the only one taking center stage. The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region. More specifically, its IT sector stands out as the country's third-largest, growing at twice the rate of overall employment in the past decade as businesses continue to digitize their operations to stay competitive.
