Job Description

Egis is looking for an experienced Plant Engineer to join our Operations team, supporting asset performance across Transurban’s Sydney Southern Network.

You’ll be working across a safety-critical, 24/7 motorway and tunnel environment including the Eastern Distributor, Cross City Tunnel, M5 East, M5 South West, M4 West, M4 East, M8, M4–M5 Link and Rozelle Interchange.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll directly contribute to asset reliability, safety and performance across one of Sydney’s most critical road networks.

If you’re experienced in plant, SCADA/OMCS environments, or critical infrastructure operations and want to be part of a high-performing team— we'd love to hear from you!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading fault investigation, triage and recovery across tunnel and roadside plant systems
  • Supporting maintenance teams with both reactive and planned works
  • Using operational data to identify trends, eliminate defects and drive performance improvements
  • Coordinating responses to incidents and asset failures across operations and maintenance
  • Managing and prioritising work through enterprise systems (AIS/CMMS)
  • Working with OEMs and specialist vendors to restore service and prevent recurrence

You’ll also:

  • Provide 24/7 coordination support during incidents and major events
  • Work closely with control room teams and supply chain partners to ensure effective response and escalation
  • Own defect management, reporting and post-incident follow-up
  • Act as a key technical interface with client and maintenance stakeholders

Qualifications

Due to nature of work, successful candidate will be based in Sydney, NSW with relevant rights to work.

About you

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Control Systems Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in plant, SCADA/OMCS or critical infrastructure environments (tunnels, motorways, rail or similar)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
  • Experience working with asset management or CMMS systems
  • Ability to analyse data and translate insights into practical outcomes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

Why join Egis?

  • Work on one of Sydney’s most critical motorway and tunnel networks
  • Be part of a high-performing operations team in a 24/7 environment
  • Opportunity to influence asset performance, reliability and safety outcomes
  • Supportive team culture with a focus on continuous improvement and development
