As a Platform Software Engineer, you must possess strong technical skills and a strong
sense of empathy for your fellow developers. You will work closely with other talented
engineers, architects and senior stakeholders to architect, implement, and deliver on
our roadmap.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • You have a developer first mentality with a deep empathy for the challenges of modern software development.
  • You have a demonstrated track record of full lifecycle product development from inception to happy customers.
  • You are comfortable presenting your ideas to all levels of management including
    technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Be able to explain not only the “hows” but also the “whys” in the technical areas
    that you are responsible for
  • You will build our cloud native mindset and drive our architecture towards it.
  • You will build and maintain observability and reliability of our services.
  • You will participate in a 24/7, follow the sun on call model for production incident management including outside of standard business hours as rostered
  • You will drive and implement improvements in developer tools and automation.
  • You will have a willingness to learn from your colleagues and have a natural curiosity for the
    technical topics around you.
  • You will collaborate across the enterprise to drive consensus and understanding.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience (including
    professional software engineering internships & accredited college coursework,
    or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ years of experience with public cloud (AWS) in building services using cloud
    native technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, serverless, etc.
  • Experience delivering codebases with at-least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, Typescript, React etc.
  • Strongly held test practices regardless of language or tools.
  • Strong understanding of foundational concepts in computer science such as data
    structures, algorithms (search, sort, graphs, etc.).
  • Record of delivering documentation alongside code using frameworks such as Markdown.
  • Knowledge of source control, branching & release strategies, pull requests and automated quality gates using tools such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
  • An eagerness to learn CI/CD automation, including deploying applications and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate familiarity experience in rethinking/reimagining existing product/platform architectures as they migrate to the cloud. This includes decomposing monoliths, scalability, resiliency, observability, and security
  • Ability to articulate and implement a vision while inspiring our large developer
    community to join forces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Production experience building and operating Kubernetes clusters in public cloud is a plus.
  • Experience monitoring infrastructure with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, etc.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, experience with on-call rotation and incident management.
