You’ll be shaping and implementing modern data architectures, advising senior stakeholders and C-level leaders on how to embed data at the heart of decision-making. You will lead customer engagements & data transformation initiatives requiring deep expertise in data engineering and solution architecture, working directly with clients to understand their requirements, design robust data solutions, and lead delivery from inception to production. You will guide uplift common architecture & industry solutions and contribute to market offerings. 

This is a unique opportunity to establish a senior position that blends technical expertise with strategic influence. You will be at the forefront of data innovation, advising on modern platforms and helping organisations realise value through data transformation, governance and AI.  


Requirements

What you'll do:

  • Extensive experience in data strategy, AI, and analytics, guiding C-level executives through complex data decisions and operating model design.
  • Shape and implement data initiatives aligned with business outcomes, focusing on unlocking value from data investments and translating complex needs into scalable solutions.
  • Design and deliver end-to-end data solutions in the cloud, balancing scalability, security, and business agility.
  • Lead data maturity assessments, identifying capability gaps and creating actionable roadmaps.
  • Champion data governance, AI adoption, and self-service analytics across client organisations.
  • Drive business development and pre-sales activity, supporting proposals, SoWs, and commercial modelling to articulate client value.
  • Leverage the full Azure data stack to build scalable, integrated data platforms, and optimise data models for performance and maintainability.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of data pipelines and CI/CD frameworks, ensuring data quality, reliability, and efficient delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align solutions with architectural standards and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic guidance as a trusted technical advisor.

What you'll bring:

  •  Proven experience with 5+ years in data engineering and solution architecture within enterprise-scale environments, specialising in Azure technologies 
  • Proven hands-on expertise with the Azure data platform, including, Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure SQL Database, Purview Data Catalog and Data Map 
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience, effectively engaging with stakeholders to understand and address their needs 
  • Strong skills in solutioning and project estimation, accurately scoping and planning data engineering projects 
  • Strong practical knowledge of data modelling principles, including star and snowflake schemas, dimensional modelling, and Slowly Changing Dimensions 
  • Expert in SQL and Python, with production-ready code for both batch and real-time use cases; experience with R, Scala, or Java is a plus 
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows 
  • Demonstrated experience leading platform migrations, particularly from Azure Synapse or similar platforms 
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD practices, Git branching, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code 
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on implementation of cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance 
  • Experience monitoring cloud services and optimising performance and costs using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or equivalent tools
