At Intelligen, we’re building something different. Over the past three years, we’ve evolved from a bold startup to a trusted partner for some of Australia’s most complex data transformations. We’ve helped organisations move from legacy to modern platforms, embedded governance into decision-making, and brought AI into the hands of the business - responsibly and at speed.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for senior leaders who can operate at the intersection of advanced analytics, AI and data architecture. This is a role for someone who doesn’t just design technical solutions, but helps clients navigate ambiguity, shape strategy, and build secure, scalable capability that delivers measurable business value.

We’re seeking a Principal Data Consultant to lead high-impact engagements where data, AI, and security architecture converge - bringing trusted advisory capability, deep technical expertise, and delivery leadership to some of the most important transformation programs in market.

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Data Consultant who can design, deliver, and scale advanced analytics and AI solutions in complex enterprise environments.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic advisory capability. You will lead high-impact engagements where data, AI, and architecture intersect - helping organisations translate ambitious goals into secure, production-grade systems that drive real outcomes.

You will operate as both architect and trusted advisor, guiding executive stakeholders through AI adoption while ensuring solutions align to secure-by-design principles, responsible AI practices, and modern data governance requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complexity, can lead multidisciplinary teams across data engineering, data science, and platform security, and is motivated by solving important client problems with clarity, rigor, and commercial focus.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with senior executives to identify high-value opportunities for advanced analytics and AI
  • Translate strategic business objectives into scalable, secure data and AI architectures
  • Guide organisations through AI adoption while managing governance, regulatory, risk, and compliance considerations
  • Architect end-to-end analytics and AI platforms, including data pipelines, machine learning lifecycle, real-time analytics, MLOps, and AI observability
  • Lead the implementation of secure data and AI systems across modern cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Embed security and privacy into architecture and delivery decisions from the outset
  • Design systems that are resilient to adversarial risk, model misuse, and operational failure
  • Lead complex transformation engagements from strategy through execution
  • Mentor consultants, engineers, and client teams across multidisciplinary delivery environments
  • Translate technical complexity into clear decision frameworks for executives and senior stakeholders
  • Support the growth of Intelligen’s advanced analytics and AI capability through thought leadership, client engagement, and delivery excellence

Requirements
  • 10+ years’ experience delivering advanced analytics, AI, or data transformation solutions in enterprise environments
  • Proven experience designing and implementing production-grade AI solutions.
  • Strong expertise across modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar ecosystems
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
  • Demonstrated leadership in large consulting, advisory, or transformation engagements
  • Strong ability to work with both executive stakeholders and highly technical teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and guide decision-making at senior levels
  • A mindset grounded in strategic thinking, delivery leadership, and measurable value creation

Nice to Have

  • Experience implementing MLOps, AI observability, data governance, and AI risk management frameworks

Core Principles for This Role

At Intelligen, we evaluate leaders not only on what they deliver, but how they think, operate, and create impact. For this role, we are especially looking for evidence of the following:

Judgment Under Ambiguity The ability to make strong decisions with incomplete information, navigate uncertainty, and create direction in complex environments.

Secure-by-Design Thinking A consistent approach to embedding security, governance, privacy, and risk into architecture and delivery decisions from day one.

Value Creation A focus on measurable business outcomes, ensuring strategy and technology choices translate into meaningful impact.

Trajectory Evidence that the candidate can already operate one level above the role, with the leadership maturity and strategic capability to scale with the business and our clients.

Systems Thinking The ability to connect strategy, data, AI, operations, and security into coherent solutions that work in practice - not just in theory.

Benefits

We’re not just delivering AI and data projects.. we’re humanising them. That means we care deeply about the how, not just the what. We value curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. We look for people who are driven to build a business, get curious, and offer opinions and ideas.

You’ll join a team that’s smart, kind, and ambitious. You’ll have real influence - in your projects, your practice, and the broader business. And as we grow, so will you.
