The opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Enterprise Architect - Data & AI to join the Architecture team. The Architecture team are critical to the success of our technology teams and broader business in setting architecture standards in the core foundation and enterprise value streams. As Principal Enterprise Architect – Data & AI, you will provide technology leadership and direction to stakeholders, including suppliers, IT, and business units, by developing strategies, roadmaps, standards, and project options.

Your new role

As Principal Enterprise Architect – Data & AI, you will support the delivery of global enterprise programs and focus on enterprise architecture vision and strategy for Data & AI technology. Other key responsibilities will include.

  • Promote the data architecture we’ve for our modernisation architecture.

  • Align different delivery streams to our target architecture, and ensure the designs are following our guardrails.

  • Define data and AI strategy, roadmaps, patterns, and reference architectures, while driving alignment and promoting technology reuse to achieve cost efficiencies.

  • Lead capability and capacity planning to meet short and long-term business demand.

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to translate strategic objectives into actionable architecture plans.

  • Balance operational delivery and risk commitments by identifying emerging, underlying, and accumulating risks across processes and controls.

  • Clearly communicate the risk landscape to leaders, and assist in prioritising resources in response and formalising, where required, in conjunction with the first line risk team.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have experience setting an Architecture strategy and ensuring a governance policy is adhered to across the business. With proven ability to deliver architecture in a large-scale fast-moving dynamic environment, you will demonstrate your ability to influence decisions and negotiate solutions with suppliers and QBE stakeholders in order to ensure the right results for QBE.

You will also have.

  • Deep knowledge of large-scale data platform, ML, GenAI and agentic AI technologies.

  • Proven experience in problem analysis and design techniques

  • Strong ability to identify and quantify key areas of risk or complexity

  • Ability to prioritise and organise work to achieve deadlines

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, to communicate with and respond to the needs of diverse audiences

  • In-depth knowledge of Management Information and Enterprise Information Integration within a corporate environment
