Primary Responsibilities

The Product Management role is the internal representative of the investment team, responsible for defining, developing, implement and maintaining investment products, through the entire lifecycle. The candidate will primarily support Barings’ array of Private Assets in Australia, including Real Estate Equity, Real Estate Debt and Private Credit. The candidate will provide local support to the Australia investment teams with exposure to multiple fund types and structures.

Key areas of focus include:

Product Launch

  • Project manage the launch of private market funds and solutions across asset classes and client channels
  • Assist with the structuring, documentation and financial modelling of new and existing funds
  • Identify trends and opportunities for product development, aligning strategies to meet business goals and market needs
  • Serve as subject matter expert of fund commercial terms and mechanics (liquidity, fee mechanics, etc.)
  • Maintain technical expertise and understanding of regulatory framework
  • Collaborate with Client Portfolio Managers, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Sales, Investment, Finance and Risk teams, as well as external legal counsel, fund administrators, service providers and investors to facilitate productive coordination across stakeholders and drive solutions
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of our product landscape, competitor offerings and client needs

Product Maintenance

  • Support product level modifications and activities
  • Establish and implement consistent internal processes

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years relevant experience at a leading asset manager, bank or other financial institution with a focus on private markets
  • Experience in project managing and delivering complex cross-functional initiatives
  • CFA or other equivalent qualification preferred
  • Proven problem solver, with ability to resolve outstanding issues, escalating when necessary
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Clear communicator, both verbally and written for both internal and external audiences or stakeholders
