Your New Role
As a Private Markets Investment Manager, you’ll be part of the Private Markets team at Australian Ethical, responsible for delivering and managing the Private Markets portfolio. Your role spans investment origination and execution, portfolio oversight, manager partnerships, and private markets products, while also contributing to internal capability and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Provide portfolio management and oversight across Private Markets exposures (growth, defensive, property and infrastructure)
· Support the origination and execution of direct private market / alternative investment opportunities (including evaluation, due diligence and execution support)
· Lead the origination, evaluation, selection and ongoing management of partnerships with specialist alternatives managers
· Support existing private markets products and contribute to new product initiatives (including investment and product inputs)
· Provide internal thought leadership in private markets (insights, market themes, capability uplift)
· Conduct regular monitoring and reporting of investments (performance vs risk/return expectations) and recommend changes where needed
· Work collaboratively with stakeholders across Product, Finance, Legal, Strategy and Distribution to deliver outcomes.
· Support preparation and presentation of strategy updates, new products and investment reports to relevant governance forums (including Investment Committee, as required).
What we’re looking for
You’re a driven private markets investor looking to deepen your exposure across the private markets landscape, while playing a meaningful role in delivering ambitious growth in a responsible investing environment. You enjoy collaborating with talented colleagues, bring a natural curiosity to your work, and are comfortable navigating a fast‑moving, dynamic environment. If you have most of the following, we’d love to hear from you.
· 3–8 years’ experience in private markets (or closely related fields such as investment banking / transaction services), including exposure to areas such as infrastructure, property, private equity, private credit, growth equity and/or venture capital
· Demonstrated transaction and/or M&A experience with strong commercial judgement
· Experience supporting capital raising and/or product management activities (e.g., investor reporting, due diligence, product support)
· Experience contributing to materials or reporting for investment-related committees (e.g., investment committees, valuation committees, investor advisory committees)
· Relevant tertiary qualifications
· A strong interest in ethical, impactful, ESG or responsible investment
