Job Description

About the opportunity

As the Procurement Manager you will be responsible for contract development (new contracts and contract renewals) for Jetstar Australia and New Zealand and the Jetstar Group for engineering goods and services. This position is dedicated to developing engineering supplier contracts that ensure full compliance to technical and company specifications, including industry leading safety standards, together with optimal total cost of ownership.

The Ideal candidate will have a sound technical background in engineering goods and services with experience in contract development and delivering complex sourcing strategies.

Reporting to Manager, Contracts and Vendor Performance, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and delivering new contracts and contract renewals in line with business requirements and Jetstar/ Qantas Group polices
  • Preparing and delivering business education materials to ensure contractual rights, privileges and obligations are understood and delivered
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to understand the needs and requirements of the business
  • Running tenders and requests for proposals and delivering complex sourcing strategies 
  • Able to work independently and within a team with a proven background in liaising and coordinating with internal stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in a business, finance or engineering related discipline
  • Desirable MCIPS accreditation
  • Significant experience in a similar role, with aviation or engineering industry experience highly desirable
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and targets
  • Excellent written communication skills in drafting contracts, ideally experienced in drafting contractual documentation for engineering goods and services within large organisation
  • Superior excel skills preferred with experience in financial modelling and analysis and ability to incorporate the insights and information into technical contracts
  • Strong business acumen and experienced in commercial negotiation
  • Extremely high levels of attention to detail complimented with the ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Ability to interact with suppliers professionally and ethically
