In line with the regional business unit strategy, and working closely with the Regional Market Management team – attract and onboard new principles, champion the relationship with and develop and implement strategies for, the growth of selected Principals through the promotion of agreed product ranges in specified Australia & New Zealand markets

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Acting as the key Principal contact, manage, build and maintain strong Principal relationships and manage a defined Principal portfolio as well as selected customer portfolios
  • Work closely day to day with Business, Product, Account (External and Internal) and Regional Managers to ensure timely and effective communication with Principals
  • Develop and manage the strategic alignment of Principal strategies and drive marketing initiatives across the ANZ Brenntag portfolio.
  • Achieve budget targets as set by the business and Principals, where applicable
  • Undertake Inventory management for Principals including requisition of new stock, approval for stock transfers and the sale of pre-allocated stock
  • Participate in business development activities and provide technical support and product training to the commercial team relevant to the customer portfolio
  • Actively support the commercial team in developing and growing the opportunity pipeline with regular joint customer visits to gather market insights, identify market trends, promote cross selling activity, and tracking with the proficient use of Salesforce
  • Proficient in preparing sales tool kits to support the commercial team (ie. Product information sheets, USP – creating value for customers, market studies, application and proactive concepts, and promotional material incl digital content and new product launch packs
  • Communicate pricing strategies and price management to the commercial team ensuring accuracy and completeness of pricing data
  • Manage the project pipeline for Principals in the business development matrix and report on sample activity
  • Provide Principal reports ensuring all analysis and development communications are handled in an efficient and timely manner
  • Coordinate Principal visits and arrange technical training sessions as required
  • Organise audits of suppliers on customer requests
  • Initiate and prepare product presentations to Account Managers and the broader market related to Principal products, utilising support from the Food Application & Development Centre Team.
  • Align Principal offerings with existing and prospective customers, including customer and market mapping and working with the respective Account Managers to prospect for projects
  • Work closely with the Principals to obtain regular updates regarding supply and market insights on ingredients for regular reporting to the Account Managers
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with Principals in accordance with timelines agreed
  • Negotiate pricing with Principals utilising market data around freight, commodity and other ingredients to validate movement in pricing
  • Ensure all business activities are conducted according to the work instructions specified in the Integrated Management Systems
  • Industry Involvement
  • Maintain appropriate involvement in industry bodies and exhibitions (on behalf of both company and principals) and contribute to the broader development of the Food & Nutrition industry for ANZ
  • Reporting
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of market and competitor activities to Principals from various sources including the commercial team and market surveys
  • Analyse and report on market trends, gap analysis and potential cross-selling opportunities
  • Record, capture and provide comprehensive analysis of market and competitor activities to Commercial team
  • Customer Experience
  • Work cohesively with internal/external stakeholders ensuring a customer centric culture is achieved and maintained, participating in Customer Experience initiatives
  • Ensure follow up and responses to customer queries are dealt with priority
  • Identify and assist in implementation of operations and process improvement opportunities in conjunction with management
  • Manage Customer Service Excellence as measured by external customer feedback
  • Non-conformance management
  • Manage and report all non-conformances, acting on repetitious non-conformances
  • Identify and implement changes to ensure a measured reduction in non-conformances and overall operation efficiency gains and continuous improvement initiatives are achieved
  • Lead with a continuous improvement mindset including addressing areas of sub-optimal performance
  • General
  • Identify and assist in implementation of process improvement opportunities in conjunction with senior management
  • Consistently demonstrate Brenntag values and expected behaviours through exemplary standard setting
  • Actively participate in the annual Performance, Planning & Review (PPM) process, establishing individual KPIs and monitoring performance to ensure targets and effective work outcomes are achieved
  • Take ownership of learning and development opportunities by creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP), strengthening your personal and professional development
  • Regular travel requirement (local and trans-Tasman) as a minimum bi-monthly to support ANZ market, commercial team as well as attending regular principal visits
  • Perform such other duties and activities which may be assigned to you from time to time

  • Excellent IT Skills and practical knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Technical Degree in an industry related discipline required – (Science or Food Technology)
  • Minimum 8 + years’ experience in commercial marketing / food ingredient manufacturing / distribution industry
  • Working knowledge and experience in the chemical industry advantageous
