Product Manager (Discovery)

At THE ICONIC, innovation drives us; we believe that innovation should not be sitting in a silo team but rather be part of everyone and everything we do & deliver. Every person in tech has a voice and we find that our best products are achieved through collaboration (usually over a coffee in front of a whiteboard).

Product Team at THE ICONIC...

The Product team is made up of strategic thinkers leading and guiding cross-functional squads of Engineers, UX Designers and Data Scientists to ensure our customers and internal teams are delighted with every interaction. The team works with all areas of the business to set the strategy, roadmap and feature definition for all our tech products, from new features, existing systems and upgrades. This team are tech-savvy, business focused, big-picture visionaries with a passion for innovation.

What’s involved…

As a Product Manager for Discovery, you will shape how customers search for, navigate, and discover products, defining experiences that make finding the right item effortless across THE ICONIC web and mobile app channels.

You will partner closely with senior leaders across the Customer Product team as well as cross-functional groups including Engineering, Data Science, Trade, and Marketing to align on where we invest time, effort, and budget to enhance discovery experiences and underlying platform capabilities.

You will shape initiatives by clearly defining the "Definition of Why" (e.g improving relevance, increasing conversion, reducing operational cost, scaling platform performance, or enhancing stability). You will collaborate daily with engineering teams to quantify opportunity sizes, evaluate technical options, define solution approaches, and build clear and realistic release plans.

What success looks like...

  • Lead both strategic initiatives and BAU improvements across the Discovery (Search and Catalogue) domain.
  • Pioneer next-generation discovery experiences by driving advancements in product ranking, relevance, NLP, semantic search and personalisation.
  • Lead discovery and scoping phases to deeply understand customer problems and clearly articulate the value proposition of each initiative.
  • Drive ongoing enhancements in search relevance, conversion rates, and customer satisfaction by leveraging experiments, A/B testing, and in-depth data analysis.
  • Work hand-in-hand with UX and research teams to create a discovery experience that is user-friendly, accessible, and truly reflects what users are looking for.
  • Own the strategic product vision and roadmap for the Search & Discovery domain.
  • Collaborate with other Product Managers to support discovery work on adjacent initiatives and ensure cohesive customer journeys.
  • Communicate proactively and transparently with stakeholders across the business.
  • Champion strong product thinking and contribute to shaping the wider product practice.
  • Identify new opportunities for growth and drive continuous experimentation.

What we are looking for...

  • Product Management experience, including user-facing products.
  • Proven experience leading search, discovery, or similar data-rich product areas in a high-traffic, consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong background working with AI/ML teams on information retrieval, ranking models, NLP, or query understanding.
  • Exposure to working in an agile environment
  • Experience creating product roadmaps from conception to launch, driving product direction, defining go-to-market strategy, and leading design discussions
  • Experience with Search, Catalogue and Ranking logic
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated stakeholder and relationship management

Ways to stand out from the crowd..

  • Experienced with digital products, specifically online and mobile, in the e-commerce industry
  • Experience working with large-scale catalogues (100k+ SKUs)
  • Practical understanding of search infrastructure (e.g Elasticsearch, Solr, OpenSearch or vector databases).
