About Rundoo ℹ️

Our mission is to empower independent supply stores with best-in-class technology. Think of your local hardware store or mom-and-pop nursery—these are our clients. From paint to lumber to flooring, over 200,000 such stores across the country sell over $1T of building materials annually using outdated, on-premises systems. We’re aiming to help them modernize so that they can continue to thrive.

Backed by leading investors including Bessemer and CRV, we've raised $18M across three rounds and are growing quickly. Our team is made up of builders, sellers, and industry veterans with a shared goal: to bring modern technology to an overlooked industry.

About the role 💼

You'll be based out of the San Francisco Bay Area and own product research on new industries for Rundoo. Today, we serve paint, hardware, and farm & feed stores; we have a dozen more verticals on our radar (lumber, flooring, plumbing, auto, and more) and your role is to figure out which to enter and how. That means defining the ICP for a new industry, quantifying it, talking to owners in their stores, mapping the GTM, sketching the roadmap of features Rundoo would need to build to win them, and getting the first few pilot clients live.

You'll report directly to our CEO, Nick, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the engineering team led by Andrew.

You'll spend ample time with customers in their stores. There is simply no replacement for in-person time spent with the customers.

What you'll do as a Product Manager at Rundoo 🗒️
  • Own a new vertical end-to-end: define and size the market, drive the features to completion, and launch the GTM motion to tackle it.

  • Talk to operators in person: spend time in stores to understand what matters to them.

  • Build the roadmap: translate field research into a concrete, sequenced feature plan with engineering

  • Land the first pilots: find and close 5+ pilot clients in your industry to prove the market

  • Define the GTM strategy: identify the channels, partners, and events that matter.

Requirements ☑️
  • 2+ years in consulting, banking, or an equivalent field that has helped you develop strong communication and prioritization skills.

  • Based in the SF Bay Area and comfortable working from our office 4 days per week

  • Excited to get out there because all the good learning happens from being with the customer.

  • Excellent communication able to synthesize messy field research into clear, defensible roadmaps.

  • Working through rejection because many prospects will say no :)

  • Curiosity about overlooked, traditional industries.

Bonus points 🌟
  • Familiarity with building materials, construction supply, or other hardline industries

  • Experience with vertical SaaS

  • A track record of cold outreach producing real outcomes (interviews, deals, partnerships)

Compensation 💵
  • Base salary: $193K - $210K

  • Equity package: $156k - $167k

About the team 👥

This is a brand-new role at Rundoo, so you'll be one of our first product hires. Your closest collaborators:

  1. Nick (CEO): studied math & computer science at Stanford; worked as a trader at Bridgewater & Citadel and as a PM at Google & Enigma; sets the industry priorities and the product bar 🍫

  2. Andrew (CTO): studied computer science & humanities at Stanford; led engineering at Apple & Anova; you'll plan roadmaps with him and his team 🩰

  3. Your peer PM: we're hiring two! The same role but with different industries 🙂

  4. The GTM team: assuming you launch successfully, you’ll work with Matt and Vidhan to start selling into this new industry.

Interview Process 🎤
  1. Intro call with Amanda (30 min, remote): For us, understand your what you’re looking for. For you, what Rundoo and this role are about. Hopefully we both find it to be a good fit.

  2. Take-home Overview & Chat with Nick (30 min)

  3. Take-home: industry deep-dive (~1 week, paid): We find take homes are great predictors of success on the job. We’ll have you (a) talk to 3+ store owners via cold outreach, (b) size the market, (c) propose the top roadmap Rundoo needs to win, and (d) sketch a GTM hypothesis.

  4. Onsite (full day, in-person): Pressure test the roadmap from your take-home with design, engineering, and GTM. Also, eat lunch.

  5. Reference Check

  6. Offer

About our founders 🌲
  1. Andrew (CTO): studied computer science & humanities at Stanford; worked as a software engineer and head of engineering at Apple & Anova; danced with the SF ballet (where he met his wife)! 🩰

  2. Nick (CEO): studied math & computer science at Stanford; worked as a trader at Bridgewater & Citadel and as a PM at Google & Enigma; distantly related to the founder of the Hershey company 🍫

How we've fundraised 💰

We've raised $18m across three rounds:

  1. A $2m pre-seed led by Kent Bennett at Bessemer with participation from Plug & Play, Quiet Capital, and Sequoia.

  2. A $5m seed led by Caitlin Bolnick Rellas at CRV.

  3. An $11m series A led again by Bessemer and CRV.
