About ILM

Founded by George Lucas, ILM is the leading effects facility in the world, with studios located in San Francisco, Vancouver, London, Sydney and Mumbai. ILM has created visual effects for over 325 feature films and has played a key role in seven of the top 10 worldwide box-office hits of all time and has contributed to 25 of the top 50. ILM has set the standard for visual effects, creating some of the most stunning images in the history of film. At the forefront of the digital revolution, the company continues to break new ground in visual effects, VR, AR, and Immersive Cinema. You can see some of our current projects here.

Your role?

As a Production Coordinator, you will ensure show operations remain organised and efficient by managing scheduling, communication, and coordination for specific artist disciplines. Reporting to the VFX Producer and Production Manager, you will serve as a vital hub of information for the show; balancing project needs, aligning crew workflows, and delegating tasks to Production Assistants as required.

What will you be doing?
  • Collaborating with discipline supervisors and leads to crew and schedule specific bodies of work in alignment with overall show targets, client reviews, and bids.

  • Establishing daily and weekly processes to communicate targets, assignments, and priorities to both artist crews and the broader production team.

  • Scheduling, tracking, and managing work in ShotGrid, working with Production Managers to ensure data is visible and accurate for the entire team.

  • Conducting regular artist check ins, monitoring project progress, and proactively escalating potential issues to leadership.

  • Setting up discipline turnovers, tracking client deliveries, and organising dailies and shot reviews to capture feedback into tracking systems.

  • Generating weekly progress synopses for production leadership, on accomplishments and upcoming milestones.

  • Supervising, delegating tasks to, and mentoring assigned Production Assistants.

  • Performing basic technical troubleshooting and running generic scripts for view stations and setup issues.

To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:

  • Minimum 2 to 3+ years of experience in a VFX or feature animation production environment, with a solid working knowledge of post-production workflows.

  • Experience with ShotGrid (or similar tracking tools) and technical literacy across Linux, Windows, and Mac environments for reviews.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently while meeting strict deadlines.

  • A proactive attitude with a track record of identifying workflow bottlenecks and anticipating project risks.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams across multiple technical and creative departments.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Art, Communications, or equivalent practical industry experience.
