About the role

As a Production Operations Specialist, you help facilitate the smooth flow of content across different stages of production. Working with the Manager of Production Management and other teams, you ensure that material moves from content providers to delivery, meeting established timelines and quality standards. Your responsibilities extend to nurturing crucial relationships with licensors, ensuring material progresses smoothly through internal and external pipelines, and meets agreed launch and delivery timelines. Moreover, your responsibility extends to directing tasks to multiple teams, not only for our Crunchyroll site but also for external distribution agreements and partner engagements, ensuring a cohesive and practical approach across all platforms and collaborations.

In the role of Production Operations Specialist, you will report to the Manager, Production Management.

We are considering applicants for the location of Tokyo, Japan.

Core Areas of Responsibility
  • Coordinate incoming materials for several distribution channels, including Theatrical, Simulcast, Home Video, Global Content Distribution, and EST
  • Liase with licensors worldwide, especially in Japan, to facilitate content acquisition
  • Liase with external production facilities
  • Collaborate with the Content Acquisitions and Brand Management team to confirm and communicate any changes in broadcast and production schedules with licensors
  • Conduct research using on-prem storage tools and using the media asset management system to provide up-to-date material information to our teams
  • Communicate changes in delivered material to upstream teams and share information downstream to our operational pillars and fulfillment team. This includes urgent changes that puts a content launch at risk.
  • Track asset progress as they move through the supply chain and notify licensors and providers when material does not meet standard requirements
  • Partner with the Programming team, Content Acquisitions, Brand Management teams to set expectations regarding schedules and launch dates
  • Monitor on-time delivery of materials and ensure content readiness
  • Collaborate with cross departmental teams to resolve any challenges that may arise during production
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the status of production projects to cross departmental teams, leadership, and licensors
  • Evaluate and improve production processes to improve efficiency
About You

  • 5+ years working with media and content, research (video/audio/subtitle/metadata)
  • Expertise with client service in Media & Entertainment, film/TV production, or related industries.
  • Expertise in digital distribution supply chain principles.
  • Mastery of video/film formats, distribution workflows, and technologies.
  • Experience in the streaming entertainment, anime, or manga industry
  • Native to Business level English and Japanese skills
  • Experience using data to inform process improvements
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams
  • Willingness to work outside regular business hours and participate in on-call 24/7 support during launch times.

The Production Management team is a newly formed group that collaborates with multiple teams such as Content Acquisitions, Brand Management, Content Distribution, Programming, Fulfillment, Localization subbing and dubbing, and onboarding and support. Together, we're poised to make a significant impact within the digital supply chain.
