As a Project Development Engineer, you will be developing initial concepts and project scope for new cabin interiors and cabin reconfigurations, working within the Technical Services Team, responsible for providing new cabin products to the Qantas Group airlines.

Working with a specialist team of Engineers and Technical Officers, you will ensure the business is provided with detailed LOPAs (Location of Passenger Accommodation) drawings, project scoping documentation and costings to support business cases for the Qantas senior management team.  You will also support the broader Project Engineering team in the initial development phase of cabin interior projects, to ensure smooth handover to the formal project team

You’ll have:

  • Professional Engineering degree qualifications in Avionics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Structures or equivalent.
  • Experience with Autocad / Draftsight is required.
  • Experience with aircraft engineering drawings and LOPA development is highly desirable.
  • Experience with design and development of aircraft cabin interiors for Boeing or Airbus aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Experienced in working with vendors to develop aircraft cabin products is highly desirable.
  • Experience with developing project costings and schedules
  • Working knowledge of CASR Part 21 & Part 42 regulations. An understanding of EASA and FAA regulations is desirable.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple conflicting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Proven organizational and communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Highly developed skills in problem solving and analytical thinking.
  • Commitment to being customer focused team member with flexibility and willingness to contribute to other business projects and interdisciplinary functions as required.
