More About The Role

Are you a savvy consumer PR professional with a passion for storytelling and a strong sense of what’s making headlines? As a Consumer Senior Account Executive at Burson, you’ll be right in the thick of it, helping shape bold, creative campaigns for some of the world’s most exciting and influential brands.

You’ll work closely with your Client Lead to bring smart strategies to life, deliver standout results, support junior team members, and grow your media and influencer network. We’re looking for someone with solid consumer experience who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment and brings fresh, clever thinking to the table.

What You Will Do

Client Service

  • Build a deep understanding of your clients’ PR objectives, brand positioning, market, competitors, and suite of services
  • Support your Client Lead with planning and execution of strategies, and proactively suggest new ideas across media, digital, influencer, content, and partnerships
  • Step up when needed: respond to client queries in your lead’s absence and help manage day-to-day communications confidently
  • Keep on top of relevant news, trends, and industry developments using them to inform and inspire campaign ideas
  • Maintain up to date trackers, reports, and media databases to ensure transparency and efficiency across your team
  • Ensure all work adheres to both client expectations and Burson’s high standards of delivery

Account Handling

  • Be across your clients’ scope of work and KPIs, and support your team in delivering consistent, quality outcomes
  • Begin developing an eye for potential issues and solutions, flagging concerns early and working with your lead to troubleshoot effectively
  • Take ownership of campaign coordination elements such as events, press trips, media stays, and influencer campaigns, managing supplier research, cost comparisons, logistics, and execution
  • Learn and apply different writing styles across pitches, press materials, social posts, and advertorials
  • Mentor junior team members on file management, reporting, and best practices across the account

Media & Influencer Relations

  • Take a lead role in building and nurturing your personal network of media and influencer contacts, knowing who to call and how to secure standout coverage
  • Pitch confidently via phone and email, securing meaningful stories and features
  • Draft compelling and accurate media materials (press releases, alerts, feature pitches), distribute them to targeted lists, and follow up effectively
  • Stay updated on changes in the media landscape and flag new outlets, voices, or trends that could impact your clients' strategies

Financial / New Business

  • Support your Client Lead by preparing cost breakdowns, gaining required approvals, and ensuring SOX compliance is upheld
  • Begin to understand how to scope new work, contribute to case studies, and assist with new business proposals
  • Pay attention to conversations around new business opportunities and actively contribute where appropriate, whether through research, ideas, or execution
  • Build your professional network and flag potential business opportunities to senior team members

Team & Self-Management

  • Organise and prioritise your weekly and daily to-do list, keeping your team updated on progress and flagging any blockers
  • Delegate tasks effectively to Account Executives, Account Coordinators, and interns, helping ensure the team runs smoothly
  • Take initiative in brainstorms and contribute valuable, varied ideas that push creativity forward
  • Keep accurate timesheets and manage your time responsibly
Begin to develop your feedback skills, both in giving clear, constructive guidance and receiving feedback with a growth mindset

Wider Agency Thinking

  • Engage with senior leaders and take ownership of your development, seek feedback, ask questions, and identify areas to grow
  • Showcase an interest in areas beyond PR, like digital, internal comms, or influencer marketing, and bring those perspectives to team conversations
  • Proactively suggest ideas for Burson’s internal initiatives, marketing content, and agency operations
  • Develop a working knowledge of Burson’s service offering and begin building connections within the broader WPP network

Experience That Contributes To Success

  • 2- 4 years of experience in PR or communications, agency side preferred
A solid foundation of media and influencer relationships, with confidence in pitching and campaign execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling materials and build client trust
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset that’s always looking for ways to contribute and grow
