Okta’s Public Sector Team is Growing

Digital identity is driving transformation across government, and at Okta, our technology and people are at the heart of many of these success stories.

On the Workforce Identity side, Okta enables seamless, secure access to the tools government employees rely on every day to deliver critical services. On the Customer Identity side, we empower teams to create secure, seamless digital experiences for citizens — whether through online service portals, mobile driver’s licences, or broader digital identity initiatives.

Our commitment to government customers is reinforced by our local data centre and IRAP certification, ensuring we meet stringent security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

We are now looking for a high-performing Public Sector Account Executive to drive growth across NSW and Queensland State Government accounts.

At Okta, we provide our Account Executives with an environment where they can make an impact from day one, supported by world-class onboarding, strong internal collaboration, and continuous opportunities for learning and development. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of digital identity across some of the most important public sector organisations in Australia.

As Our Public Sector Account Executive for NSW and QLD, You Will
  • Define and execute a territory strategy and account plan to drive growth across assigned NSW and Queensland State Government accounts

  • Build, manage, and grow a strong pipeline, consistently delivering against revenue targets

  • Develop and deepen executive-level relationships across government departments, agencies, and relevant ecosystem stakeholders

  • Lead complex, strategic sales cycles by aligning a high-performing virtual account team including Partners, Solution Engineers, Customer Success, Technical Account Managers, Renewals, Professional Services, Business Development, and more

  • Position Okta’s Workforce Identity and Customer Identity solutions in a way that connects clearly to customer priorities, business outcomes, and risk reduction

  • Drive new business while also identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts

  • Partner effectively with channel and reseller partners to strengthen account coverage and accelerate growth

  • Represent Okta credibly in the market as a trusted advisor and thought partner within the broader identity and security landscape

  • Deliver compelling presentations, business cases, and strategic customer engagements that clearly articulate Okta’s value proposition

  • Embody and champion Okta’s core values: Love Our Customers, Always Secure, Always On, Build and Own It, and Drive What’s Next

You Could Be a Great Fit for This Role If You Have
  • 8+ years of field sales experience with a consistent track record of high performance

  • Proven success selling enterprise software, cloud, cybersecurity, or identity solutions into NSW and/or Queensland State Government

  • Strong understanding of state government procurement environments and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder groups and long sales cycles

  • Demonstrated success in new business development and strategic account growth

  • Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder sales motions across business and technical buying centres

  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with partners, resellers, and internal cross-functional teams

  • Executive presence, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage confidently with senior decision-makers

  • Experience with consultative or solution-based sales methodologies; familiarity with MEDDPICC is advantageous

  • A growth mindset, curiosity, adaptability, and a strong sense of ownership

  • Based in Sydney or Brisbane, with the ability to travel as needed across the territory

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
