This role sits in the Consumer PR and Influence team at Ogilvy Australia.

We are a team of 45+ culturally curious, driven and impact-obsessed earned-first creatives. We believe that brands are at their best when they find ways to shape, make and break into culture with ideas that influence.

We value creativity grounded in insight, big ideas that are game-changing, flawless execution, and having fun every day. Real impact is earned.

About the role

As a Publicist in our team, you will work with account teams and clients on end-to-end media and storytelling strategies that reach and engage audiences across a range of media channels and clients.

As a specialist in our team, you’ll play an ongoing role on some of our largest and most important clients, and you’ll be deployed in a consulting capacity to support key campaigns and launches across the agency.

This is a fantastic role for someone who has committed to a career in publicity and who loves to combine their creative thinking, editorial instinct and media knowledge to achieve high-quality outcomes for their clients in broadcast, lifestyle, tech and news media.

You’ll play a role in the development of strategy and ideas, working with planners, creatives, social and influencer marketing specialists to develop award-winning and highly effective client and new business proposals.

You’ll relish the creative challenge of building story elements for traditional media, and you’ll have your finger on the pulse when it comes to pop culture, celebrity, influencers and trends.

You’ll help to upskill junior team members within our business and partner with them to drive outcomes, including sell-in, launch day, event attendance, shoots and media hosting.

What you’ll bring

  • You have 3+ years’ experience in a pure publicity or heavily media relations-focused role, and a strong understanding of the current Australian media landscape
  • You have a strong network of media contacts across a range of titles and outlets, and a thorough understanding of what makes a compelling story for various media verticals
  • You are passionate about the media and what’s current in culture
  • You’re a great collaborator who loves to work with teams to build brilliant ideas
  • You’re persistent, results-oriented and strive to deliver great outcomes and reach
  • You are ambitious and driven, and love to play a role in a creative company culture
  • You love to share your knowledge and insights with others, working towards a shared outcome
  • You’re curious about the interplay between earned, social and influencer content
  • You’re a brilliant writer and know how to grab the attention of key media contacts
  • You have strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • You are a self-starter who loves to collaborate and can comfortably take the lead when required
