About this role
Our QA Engineer plays a key role in ensuring we deliver high-quality, reliable, and secure products that meet user needs. This role leads the development of testing strategy, with a strong focus on automation, and collaborates closely with developers, analysts, and product owners to design, execute, and maintain effective test solutions.
Working in an Agile environment, the QA Engineer helps the team understand requirements, validate functionality, and ensure that every change meets acceptance criteria before reaching production.
What You’ll Do
- Design and lead testing strategy for projects and assets, recommending approaches that balance quality, efficiency, and long-term value – particularly through automated testing solutions.
- Create and maintain test scenarios, test cases, and test plans in collaboration with the team, ensuring acceptance criteria are well understood and fully validated.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using programming skills (e.g., Ruby, Java, JavaScript) to build scalable, repeatable regression and functional test suites.
- Execute manual and automated tests, document outcomes, communicate results clearly to the team, and work collaboratively to triage, prioritise, and verify issues.
- Contribute to Agile delivery through refinement, sprint activities, and cross functional collaboration, ensuring consistent visibility of quality status and readiness for production.
About You
You’re an emerging QA professional with a tertiary qualification in Information Technology and around two years’ experience in test automation or technical testing roles. You’re confident analysing requirements, designing effective test approaches, and working hands-on across both manual and automated testing in an Agile environment.
You bring:
- Strong technical capability, curiosity, and a commitment to quality, ideally with experience in the insurance or banking sector.
- Experience in test automation using tools and frameworks such as Cucumber, Playwright or Cypress, Ruby, JavaScript with an understanding of TDD/BDD and continuous integration practices.
- Strong ability to analyse functional and non‑functional requirements and translate them into clear test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and automated test coverage.
- Hands‑on experience with API testing (e.g., Postman, SoapUI) and good working knowledge of databases, including writing simple and complex SQL queries.
- Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments (preferably AWS) and solid understanding of the software development lifecycle within Agile teams.
- Experience using Git or similar source control tools, with any professional QA or software development certifications considered an advantage.
We know some people only apply when they meet every requirement. We’re always on the lookout for curious individuals who will add to the culture – so if this role resonates with you and you have relevant experience, we’d love to hear from you!
