The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality System Specialist to join our Nowra-based Quality Team supporting one of our Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) programs.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to support tactical and strategic quality imperatives as they relate to the program and the broader Quality function. In this role you will be required to foster and enable a continuous improvement culture in support of providing the Australian Defence Force with world leading systems.
Key responsibilities of this role shall include, but not be limited to:
  • Coordinating and collaborating with Program and Functional leadership to ensure the ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of the Quality Management System
  • Working with key regulatory duty holders (Governance Lead, Delegate of the CAM (Continuing Airworthiness Manager), Part 145 Responsible Manager, Quality Manager and Platform Chief Engineer) to ensure ongoing compliance requirements with Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR).
  • Perform delegated Part 145, Part M Quality Manager duties as required to support program operations
  • Conduct internal audits with the dual purpose of assessing system compliance to applicable regulations, standards and contract requirements as well as identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Develop, implement and maintain quality directives, policies, plans, processes and program applicable work instructions
  • Track, monitor, measure and report the health and performance of the local quality management system and support, as necessary, remediation response to any lagging and negative leading indicators
  • Lead and/or coordinate investigations and associated root cause analysis activities in order to identify corrective and preventative actions and assure first time quality imperatives can continue to be met
  • Contribute to product and service safety through active participation in the SMS (Safety Management System) program, supplier product nonconformance reporting co-ordination and supplier network performance monitoring.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver a quality capability that provides site-based support including, mentoring and coaching staff in the applicable standards.

To be successful you will have:
  • A minimum of technical and/or further education qualifications in either Quality Management, Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the ISO 9001 and AS 9110 standards
  • An understanding and ability to conduct audits to required aviation standards
  • Strong problem solving ability, self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Australian Citizenship to meet Defence security requirements

Desirable:
  • Qualification in Aviation Maintenance related discipline
  • Holds or has held a CASA or DASR Part 66 Licence or equivalent
  • Completed ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training by a recognised training organisation
  • An understanding of the DASR Part 145, Part M, 21J and Part 66 regulations
  • Experience with Lean methodology
