The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Release Train Engineer to join the AUSPAC Technology team in Sydney. Reporting to the GM, Value Stream Delivery, you will play a hands‑on leadership role in driving the execution of QBE’s strategy and uplifting delivery performance across multiple teams within one of our value streams. You will actively lead and facilitate agile delivery in a hybrid delivery world, enabling teams to plan, execute, and deliver with greater consistency, transparency, and speed.

Your new role

As a Release Train Engineer, you will be a senior agile leader and catalyst for enterprise‑wide transformation, enabling outcomes aligned to QBE’s strategy. Operating within a SAFe QBE environment, you will serve as the connective force across product management, development, systems, and operations—facilitating flow, removing impediments, and driving the delivery of value at scale.

As a people‑centred leader, will lead and coach teams in Agile and SAFe ways of working, building high performance, engagement, and sustainable delivery.

Other key responsibilities will include;

  • Coordinate and align ART activities with the QBE's strategic direction.
  • Attract, select, develop, motivate, train, retain and manage a high-quality matrix workforce.
  • Manage the ART flow of value, or steps used to create value
  • Develop and maintain processes and tools for effective management of the ART.
  • Manage budgeted resources by forecasting needs, accounting for expenses, and achieving fiscal responsibility.
  • Foster a performance enhancement culture that is accountability-driven,  through coaching, mentoring, and developing employees.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have experience in a similar role within a Technology function. You will also have;

  • Significant experience leading Agile teams in a hybrid delivery world.
  • Extensive experience in successful implementation of large-scale business transformation programs and projects, continuous improvement and enhancements
  • Demonstrable process/continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience leading large teams and growing professional delivery resources.
  • Experience in demand management processes, planning, and allocating resources.
