We are looking for a Project Engineer to join the Octopus Australia team in our Sydney office. The successful applicant will be able to join the Octopus Investments Australia team on their mission to accelerate Australia's transition to a future powered by renewable energy.

Job Description
The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of Octopus’s projects at all stages of the project lifecycle including origination/investment, development, construction and operation.
Our project engineers are expected to:
- Assist the Senior Project Manager during construction stage delivery of renewable energy projects, managing scope, program, budget and stakeholder engagement to achieve best for project outcomes.
- Provide engineering support to the wider business including:
- Lead engineering design to develop concept designs (Layout, SLD, cable schedules, etc) for renewable projects.
- Preparing energy yield assessment
- Providing inputs and managing technical due diligence process of renewable projects investments opportunities.
- Supporting development and procurement activities.
- Evaluation of operating plant performance and investigation of issues.
- Supporting with closing issues on Operational projects
- Preparing/Reviewing Principal Project Requirements and liaise with technical consultants
- Manage various site studies conducted during early stages of the project.
- Manage any Early Works activities, including managing the budget and schedule.
- Ensure industry standard design processes are followed.
- Ensure project document management processes are being followed.
- Ensure that mandatory design and construction QA/QC related deliverables are held and documented such as Safety in Design.
- Monitor construction and commissioning activities for compliance with design and engineering requirements, including enforcing any witnessing hold points and review of QA/QC, testing and as-built documentation.
- Contribute to a collaborative and supportive working environment across the various teams in Australia.
- Liaise with and manage any external design and construction advisers and reviewers such as owner’s engineers and lender’s engineers.
- Provide feedback and contribute to any project related delivery schedules when requested.
- Be actively involved in the construction process and contribute to the problem solving as it occurs.
- Drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute across several projects providing support in discipline in areas that the “lead” for other projects may not have sufficient knowledge or experience.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- 4 - 6 years of prior experience in engineering or construction of Solar, Hybrid, BESS or Wind projects (and at least 2 years working on utility scale renewable projects) where you applied engineering or project management skills.
- The ability to communicate with and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary and diverse team.
- A self-starter with tenacity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
- An engineering degree.
- Eligibility to work in Australia, visa sponsorship is not offered.
