The Role

We are hiring an entry-level Research Associate to support Australia power and renewables research. This role is designed for candidates who are strong in data analytics, power modelling, and market analysis, and who can convert structured or unstructured inputs into clear, evidence-based market insights.

 

The Team

You will work with Wood Mackenzie’s Power & Renewables research team across APAC and global markets. The team combines market intelligence, long-term modelling, and structured research workflows to support high-quality insight generation.

 

Key Responsibilities

Work with local research team to maintain core market datasets and conduct power market analysis for the Australia market.

  • Build and update structured research databases (policy, projects, company updates, and source tracking) with clear verification status and source traceability.

  • Monitor key developments in policy, market rules, project pipeline, and company disclosures; organize information into reusable research inputs.

  • Support production of high-quality, forward-looking insights by preparing accurate and well-structured evidence packs.

  • Maintain and run the Australia long-term power market forecast model in Aurora, with guidance from senior analysts.

  • Perform data QA checks, resolve inconsistencies, and improve data reliability across recurring workflows.

  • Support cross-team requests by delivering well-documented charts, tables, and summary materials.

What We’re Looking For

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in energy research, market analysis, data operations, or similar analytical roles.

  • Strong discipline in attention to detail, data accuracy, and structured working style.

  • High standards for quality control, with the ability to validate and reconcile information from multiple sources.

  • Good understanding of Australia’s power and renewables market fundamentals (or strong willingness to learn quickly).

  • Strong Excel skills; comfort working with structured datasets and repeatable templates.

  • Clear written and verbal communication in English.
