Are you ready to join the Banking Department and play a pivotal role in transforming risk management at the Reserve Bank of Australia?
We are seeking a risk professional to join us in a strategic Line 1 role, supporting the department leaders to uplift risk culture and progressively mature our risk management practices.
This newly created role is designed to enhance our management of material risks and ensure we stay ahead in an ever-evolving risk landscape.
This role would best suit an experienced risk manager in a commercial bank and will involve substantial liaison with teams in Banking Department and in other departments in the Bank (e.g. Enterprise Risk and Compliance, Information Technology).
As a Risk Advisor you will:
Drive risk awareness and action-oriented ownership of throughout the department
Provide support to the department in their identification, assessment and management of risk and controls to support the business areas to implement (meet) a target uplift in risk management practices.
Ensure business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, standards, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite of the RBA.
Support the business to develop and implement adequate controls to mitigate material risk exposures. Provide subject matter expertise to the risk and control owners in the business to test the effectiveness of key controls.
Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification, logging and management of risks, controls, issues and incidents within the Risk Management System (RMS) to acceptable quality standards.
Support the preparation of reporting and analytics to build awareness and transparency of material risk exposures. Co-ordinate and lead regular risk forums where reports are presented to the leadership team.
Your Background
Experience in a Line 1 or Line 2 operational risk and compliance role
Demonstrated risk management expertise, which could also include in related fields such as business continuity, privacy and/or financial crime.
Experience in design, build and implementation of risk and compliance frameworks, coaching and training.
Demonstrated experience supporting the learning and development of business stakeholders in practical risk management.
Understanding of enterprise-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies and standards.
Experience in uplifting operational resilience and implementing operational risk management standards in an APRA‑regulated organisation is highly desirable.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated negotiation and resolution management skills.
