The opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Risk, Governance and Regulation Team in Elders Insurance, a growing business in QBE AUSPAC division. Elders Insurance operates as a joint venture 80% owned by QBE and 20% by Elders Rural Services ownership.

Reporting to the Head of Risk, Governance and Regulation you will support the relevant function in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to Risk and Governance. This involves coordinating and managing various aspects of compliance, working closely with internal stakeholders such as Compliance, Risk, Company Secretarial, and Legal to uphold regulatory standards.

Your new role

As a Risk and Compliance Specialist your key responsibilities will include;

  • Uplifting and maintaining Elders Insurance Underwriting Agency (EIUA)’s Compliance Program and Licence Condition Matrix
  • Incident Management remediation, analysis and assisting QBE Compliance Team with investigations into legislative and code breaches
  • Managing quarterly compliance reviews as part of EIUA Agency Remediation Framework
  • Managing EIUA conflicts of interest and gifts and entertainment register
  • Compliance reporting for Elders Risk and Compliance Committee and EIUA Board
  • Developing and implementing oversight and supervisory processes, practices and reporting to ensure AR’s are compliant with financial services laws and policies and procedures
  • Supporting the Risk Control Self-Assessment process for EIUA
  • Coordinating and running compliance training sessions for the benefit of the Elders Network
  • Monitoring and tracking regulatory developments and representing Elders interests for these projects

About you

To be successful as a Risk and Compliance Specialist you will have proven experience working in a regulated industry, with insurance, banking or superannuation preferred.

You will also have;

  • Strong understanding of financial services laws, regulation and general insurance code of practice
  • Strong written and communication skills, with an eye for detail
  • Proven stakeholder management and influencing skills and demonstrated commercial acumen
  • Ability to work autonomously
