As part of an exciting transformation program within our Group Risk & Compliance division, we are looking for a Risk SME (Risk Management Frameworks & Strategy) to join our Program team on a 12 month maximum term engagement!

In this role, you’ll will proactively lead and support initiatives including BAU risk and program initiatives to drive the development and implementation of the Risk Management Framework and Strategy (RMFS), supporting standards, procedure and systems.

You’ll also make an impact by: 

  • Proactively lead risk initiatives and activities including undertaking to design, implement, review and embed risk management frameworks, policies, standards, tools and systems, to maintain adequacy and effectiveness
  • Apply risk expertise and advice to design, implement and embed policies and standards that support risk maturity uplift in areas including RMFS, Risk Appetite Statement, Regulatory Change, Governance and 3 Lines of Accountability, Risk Capability and Capacity Framework, Risk Culture, and Emerging Risk
  • Actively supporting the development of the risk appetite settings for the organisation. Participate in activities to embed risk appetite within the organisation and establish and maintain effective monitoring and reporting practices
  • Coordinate the developing, implementing and reviewing of the risk culture framework including regular risk culture assessments. Actively lead and drive initiatives to instil an appropriate risk culture.
  • Build and lead internal community to facilitate consultation, feedback and knowledge sharing on matters relating to policy setting and reviews, regulatory change and emerging risks.
  • Leading training, awareness and communication activities.
  • Support Line 2 teams to design and implement key risk management standards including for Risk Assessment, Controls Management, Issues and Incidents Management, Compliance Obligations, Risk in Change, Regulatory Change and Key Risk Indicators

 

What you’ll bring 

You’re a critical thinker and problem solver, with strong communication skills and a passion for delivering. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are driven to contribute to a dynamic team. 

To succeed in this role, you’ll have: 

  • 7+ years of experience in compliance management within the finance and banking industry.
  • Solid understanding of relevant laws and regulations, industry codes, standards, prudential requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in operational risk and compliance roles, in the financial services sector, including the design and implementation of effective risk and compliance management frameworks, and a sound knowledge of APRA prudential standards.
  • Experience with engagement with external parties, ideally with regulators and industry forums.
  • Demonstrated experience in building risk and compliance maturity and capability across the first and second lines of accountability and exposure to better industry practice.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and be able to demonstrate sound judgement.
  • Proficient in executing change management activities
