Economic Research plays a pivotal role in deepening the RBA and Board’s understanding of the economy and the evolving impact of monetary policy. Your team
The department brings together economists and researchers specialising in macroeconomic, microeconomic, econometrics and data science. It is also home to the RBA Library, a critical resource for a research-driven institution. The Library ensures seamless access to trusted journals, data, and information by managing over 140 subscriptions, providing expert research support, guiding resource choices through a cost–value-driven strategy, and building staff capability to find, evaluate, and use data effectively while ensuring copyright and licensing compliance.
The role
As a manager, you will lead the Library team in delivering high-quality information services that support the Bank’s research and policy objectives, while ensuring the Library remains agile, innovative, and fit for purpose.
In addition to this, your key responsibilities will see you:
Lead and manage the Library team to deliver exceptional information services that support the Bank’s research and policy objectives.
Provide expert advice and solutions that enable high-quality research outcomes for the Bank.
Ensure operational accountability across people management, budgets, and processes.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation across Library functions, ensuring solutions remain resilient to changes in technology and operating environments.
Champion an RBA values-aligned culture, fostering high levels of engagement, achievement, and professional growth within the team.
Enable and recognise workforce performance in a way that encourages continuous improvement and capability development.
Contribute to the broader strategic direction and leadership of the Economic Research Department, sharing accountability for overall performance and outcomes.
Oversee policies, systems, and processes to maintain integrity and compliance.
Identify and respond proactively to issues, risks, and opportunities, ensuring robust governance and risk management.
Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
We're seeking an experienced people leader who has:
Proven experience representing a small library team within a large organisation.
Strong risk and issue management skills.
Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing.
Deep understanding of organisational policies and ability to influence compliance.
Technical expertise in information and knowledge management.
Extensive experience leading and motivating teams to implement strategic initiatives.
Experience in leading and implementing change management initiatives to drive adoption of new processes and technologies
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience. MBA, MIS or comparable is advantageous.
